What's the blue circle?

So, every now and again I'm getting a blue circle on ACNL icon. What does that mean exactly?

I think it means there is a streetpass, I got one today probably from a nintendo/animal crossing person.

That's not what it means. When a game has a blue circle on it, it usually means that there's an update available, new DLC etc. It's usually just an update available (you'll be able to check specifically what it means by simply OPENING YOUR NOTIFICATION BOX...)

I know there are a lot of questions being asked on the forums but this really is unnecessary. These sort of things would be answered in the user manual or on the Nintendo FAQs.

Blue could also be when someone visits your Dream Address and replied to Luna with "I feel refreshed!".

The blue dot usually pops up for me for 2 occasions.
A new person has visited my Dream Address. Or a new HH Showcase home is available to be seen. Seeing that you're in The NA region, it may be that c:

Define "answering a question nicely" Sorry, but in my eyes to get respect you must earn it. This person has done nothing to earn my respect. If new members are going to get treatment by spamming the forum with unnecessary threads regarding questions that you should know when you buy a 3ds, then that's totally unfair.
I, unlike a lot of people, actually read my user manual when I purchase consoles/games. If this is the outcome for those who do not, then so be it.

Does anyone else get the spotpass icon, even though you get no new HHA, or the dream address thing? I get no notifications on the notification area.

Jarrad, I did just buy my Animal Crossing 3ds and I did check the manual. It was not in there. I joined this forum because I thought it was free of short-tempered trolls such as yourself. I don't ask such questions unless I've been unable to find out the answer myself. It's not spam, it's a request for assistance, learn to tell the difference.

I think you need to reevaluate what you've just written. You can throw around the word "troll" as much as you like, it has to definitive meaning. For instance, you're the troll. It's not lack of knowledge about a game, it's ignorance to ask such stupid questions on a fan-base forum and not on a forum which is specifically dedicated to helping "trolls" like you.

I honestly don't understand what's so difficult about pressing the top right box on the 3ds home.

And Jarrad, if you knew anything, you would see that the blue notification for ACNL does NOT appear in the notifications section on the home screen. It just shows up as the blue dot on the icon for ACNL, the notification part of the home menu doesn't actually tell you anything of what the dot is for.

But your ignorance won't let you see that, I'm guessing.
