Is your town historical, modern or somewhere in between? My town is still in it's early days, but I have big plans to turn it into an ancient Japanese town.

Oh, and does anyone have any tips for landscaping? It seems to take forever for me and every tree I plant I chop down about 5 days later. Also, what furniture/public works projects go well with a Japanese town?

Oh gosh. I don't even know. It's almost a Post-Apocalyptic mishmash of...garbage. I'd love to work on it a lot more.

Also, in the way of PWP- there's actually a few Japanese-themed projects you can unlock, I think. Bridges, a rock garden...maybe a flower display? (If only cherry blossoms stayed longer. That would be awesome.)

My town is just kinda.. Flowers everywhere. Everywhere.

Then just random cool sculptures or things that I like thrown in.

My town's kinda natural I guess, since I don't have roads (may have some in future.. still deciding) or planned areas (except a nice little spot around my bench)

You mean like the suspension bridge? Or is there another wooden one? My villagers have recently suggested the brick bridge and the modern bridge, which I hate.

The wooden bridge is a japanese-looking one. tumblr_mqj6k5Kz1G1svgayqo1_400.jpg

Oh yeah, lysandre. There is the shrine thing, isn't there?

well i'm going for a half zen theme town, not an old town though. but i've lived there before so i can tell you that:

-for a house, obviously the zen or ramshackle exterior. use the concrete fence for one of your villager houses, my own house had that there. also worth noting we had a green pebble path, so you can use that too. Stone exteriors also work well, and you can also mix up the zen renovation with the normal house expansion because it's actually pretty common.

-public bath, japanese, imperial theme, all of those work in a japanese house. also furniture like incense, and small tightly-packed furniture reflects a japanese household. in the room where there would be a kotatsu, use the bamboo floor. i rarely see people do anything else. also, in my old house we had a spare room with bamboo floor/shoji screen. also that thing in the back of gladys' room, and japanese dlc also work. we also have things like charms and little statues sometimes.

-for villagers, i know that all of these have an eastern asian theme going on (though im not sure you already have dreamies):
croque (cranky) kabuki (cranky)
drago (lazy) marcel (lazy) zucker (lazy)
flip (jock) genji (jock) rory (jock) rowan (jock)
ken (smug)
blanche (snooty) greta (snooty)
gladys (normal) pekoe (normal) annalisa (normal)
tammi (peppy)
phoebe (uchi)

-pwp:
classic police station
zen town hall/train station
hammock
zen bell
none of the benches work well besides the log bench, but you can try the wood bench. i don't remember that many white benches, though.
pile of pipes- it actually does work.
wooden/wooden suspension bridge
BUS STOP my mom watches so many dramas in japanese and there's always something that looks similar to it. it'll totally give it the full feeling.
zen clock
garbage can
streetlight/zen streetlight
water well
hot spring
flower bed
rack of rice
water pump
zen garden
stone tablet

-and for everything else LOTS AND LOTS OF GREENERY. make it as cramped as possible, but still functional. there are many many gardens as well, plant bushes as much as you can and keep lots of greenery indoors. you might also want to consider purrl as a villager given how common her type of cat is in japan.

wow, this was a lot of fun to type. xD good luck!!

Mine isn't really supposed to be in any specific time period. I'm far from finishing landscaping, but my theme is supposed to be a forest deep in the country somewhere with Cedar Trees, wood bridges and all! Personally I think the "Japanese village" thing is a bit overdone, haha.

My town could be modern, but it's gonna be rural or at least not as city-like as it could be.
