Basically, Chief is in my town, but I'm resetting soon. I've cycled at least 40 villagers, but he still won't budge.
Should I reset and get him later here, or just continue, and cycle until he comes out?

Keep going. Keep talking to him often. Are you using the 1+1 year + 5 day method?

So you are trying to get him 'in boxes' for someone else to hold before resetting, right?

Have you talked to him at all? First time I got Julian he lasted about 40-60 villagers before being the one 'in boxes.' Second time I got him he moved right away. The only difference I could think of was that I talked to him the first time, but just a few times, while the second time I did not even introduce myself to him. Maybe that has nothing to do with it, though.

In any case, I just mean I believe Chief may still very well be 'in boxes' soon if you continue. I would recommend continuing for awhile longer if it matters enough.

I've talked to him as he was a dreamie, but when I've cycled him, I need to move him into my main town... Which requires more cycling

I'll give him 5 more move outs

Yup

I don't think it takes too long to cycle villagers out then. I'd give it a bit more than just 5 tries.

Have you tried making a new character and doing the ignoring method? I had Flurry and wanted her to leave, and she wouldn't for MONTHS. I had every other villager ask me multiple times if they could move, and she never would.

I made a new character, who talked to her ONLY 1 time, then ignored her COMPLETELY (not even bump into her or go anywhere near her) and after 7 days she asked to leave. So now I really believe that's the best and safest way. You can easily TT that many days and keep checking on all your other villagers, etc, so nothing you don't want happens. TT-ing a whole year scares me, so I never tried the other method.

10 hours is pretty long

Yeah, i tried that... I think he hates me :L

I meant per try. I doubt it takes 10 hours to get one villager in boxes.

I don't think 10 hours is long, since like I said I was trying for MONTHS to get Flurry out. TT

But I think you'll spend more time trying to adopt him later from a cycling thread or something. So really, it just depends on where you want to spend that time. ALTHOUGH, if you have 2 towns, you could cycle for him yourself with one of the towns, but again....time~

Maybe if you make 2 new characters, and have them both ignore him? And the mayor ignore him too? I know how annoying it is though. I just don't think 10 hours is that long compared to some of the time I've committed to things in this game. But I'm nutty like that.

if you're using the 1+1 year + 5 day method, you should have a villager in boxes at least every 10 minutes. If you've been doing this for 10 hours. RNG must not like you. :p

just keep trying, he'll move out soon
