So today I woke up to a winter wonderland in my island! It's completely gorgeous...
But now some of my open environments seem out of place... Like my public pool, zen spa, open library and tiki bar. Fellow players from the south hemisphere, will you change your whole island to match the winter or not?

the snow looks so pretty!
I'm northern hemispere, but I've honestly never thought about how some spots will be weird in the snow.. I think if I suddenly woke up with snow outside, I would change my islands vibe according to it. I would make the public pool more like an outdoor sauna etc.
the same idea, but winter theme ^^

You could always just keep it as is, as nothing will happen to your furniture. However, I think it'd be pretty neat to cycle between different setups that reflect the seasonal changes.

I woke up to the snow on the ground today, too! It's so much better than previous games as the snow doesn't make a crunching sound when you stomp around on it. It also looks really pretty in the moonlight.

You could add more campfires, etc:

Make all those spaces look nice and toasty! If you have customizable fabric on items, swap them out to look more knit or sweater-like. It think log and other wood-based items would look nice too!

I've actually been thinking about this as a northern hemisphere player starting to put together summery spaces and redecorate my house, haha.

The snow gives a different vibe to your island for sure (in a good way of course)! I'm in the northern hemisphere, and I think I'll probably swap out some items (e.g., surfboards and beach chairs) when it comes winter time :)

Lots of my areas do feel out of place now (particuarly my autumn mushroom forest and zen gardens), but I also really like my set up pre snow that i'm not sure I can be bothered doing a massive renovation of my island.

Saying that, I did remove my soccer field, and brought the gnomes inside. Firstly it is too cold for them to be outside playing soccer > but actually the real reason was I now need a big open area that isn't cluttered for rolling perfect snowman. Which by the way I seem to stuff up everytime and get 'just close' when making them.

Any way to set up a "closed off gate, "either jail bars DIY or some type of fence that would look nice, then place a sign by it that basically is a "closed for the winter" kind of set up?
That way you don't have to tear it down or cycle out the items for a new season. Since irl pools just close their gates and post a notice that they are closed for the season.

Something like the tiki bar you could rotate it with the seasons if you'd want tho. Change out the tropical for icy items. Keep mostly the same layout but a seasonal counterpart to them. That way changing it wouldn't be too hard between season because you don't have to constantly redo the layout of it.

I haven't thought about this. I wasn't planning on using alot of seasonal items although my outdoor library might look weird. I planned on having an extra character to store the seasonal stuff and I can play as them to swap items out

We play football (soccer) in the snow! I've not been to a winter island yet, though - does the snow cover everything like paths, custom paths, etc?

I'll be swapping things out. I'm just not sure how... most areas I have ideas for, but I made a boardwalk near the beach that looks of course, very summer-like and very tropical. I'm not sure how to make that work, hahah.

Otherwise pool will be swapped for sauna, my smoothie stand will become a hot chocolate stand, and so on to make those little seasonal changes.

I want to decorate a space with snowy open land so that I can build snowmen more easily, rather than having paths everywhere,
but I'm one for calling an outdoor pool in the winter a nice place to go haha (I went skiing once, one of the highlights was the hot tub that was outdoors in the freezing cold! It was so nice to get into, but getting in/out was a little painful lol)
