It's a complaint that echoes throughout videogame fandom: The Wii just doesn't have many high-quality games, featuring our beloved Big N characters, at the moment. Perhaps that's why console sales plummeted in March. Not since 2007's Super Mario Galaxy have gamers been treated to a real, honest first-party Nintendo game starring a AAA-level mascot. No, Animal Crossing doesn't count.

Luckily, we now have reason to hope 2009 has better things in store. As we reported last week, Gamestop has announced that Nintendo instructed them to reserve plenty of shelf space for a new AAA game this winter. Other than that, we know nothing about this mystery game, or who will headline it, but the gears have already started turning in our minds.

In this edition of What Say You?, we ask which Nintendo icon should headline the release this winter. The characters we selected seem most likely to fit the bill. Unfortunately, as much as we love B-list favorites like Ness or Geno and Mallow, they probably aren't Nintendo's definition of AAA. Read our picks and then cast your vote for which hero you want to see on the shelves.

The poll will be under Mario's description in a small box.

Mario would be my first choice.

But other then that the ones I would also want would be Olimar, Luigi, and Donkey Kong.

Wait a second.... where's Kirby?

Well there's a few I want, but the one I want the most is a new StarFox game. There hasn't been one for so long. My next choice was another Metroid game. This time I would want multiplayer both offline and online (it'd be cool if they had online co-op story mode). Another choice of mine is that there needs to be a Pikmin 3. There hasn't been a game for a very long time and I think this series should not be abandoned.

Fox AND Pit

Theres been
1 Link
4 Marios
4 Luigis
1 Olimar (New Play Control)
2 Samus (I think)

I don't mind. I probably brick my Wii again just like I do with hacking to the limits.

Do you think the "New Play Control" games are a complete cop-out, or a preparation for games soon to come? Like, are we about to see a Pikmin 3, or a Mario Tennis Wii, or maybe a new Donkey Kong? If you're shaking your head and saying "no no no, straight up cop-out. They're just being lazy and throwing old titles out there".... then you and I are in agreement.

This isn't SSBB guys, Pit was just an add on to that series just like the Ice Climbers. And the IC didn't necessarily get a new game, did they?
I voted Link, but Fox is fine too.
