If you could make a Personality Type and add it into the next game, what kind of personality type would you want to add? What would they like/dislike, which villager types would they get along with or clash with & how would they react in certain situations etc.

Really interested to hear what people come up with.

I'd love a nerdy sort of personality, that talks about books or video games or fandoms and stuff like that and is often in their house. Stereotypical, but they probably wouldn't get along with jocks.

I'd like a sweet personality. We kind of have it with normals, but still.
They can be male or female.
They get along with Normals and Snooties.
They clash with Crankies.
They have to visit you/send you a gift at least once a week.
Their PWP's will be cute, such as the illuminated heart, and flower arch.
Commonly outside, their dialogue is mostly compliments to the character, any other residents besides Crankies, and the town. It is sort of rare for them to move.

I really like this idea. Except I wouldn't want them to reference specific fandoms, because that would get really annoying if you didn't know or disliked the fandom, and it would quickly feel outdated. But a Studious type, that took everything seriously and loved reading and research and was always committed to finding the facts, would be really cool. Or it could be more of a Techie personality, always wanting the latest game systems and computers, and discussing favorite shows.

I'd also like an Artsy type, into music, drawing/painting, that sort of thing. They'd be more fanciful and use metaphors. They'd have a bit of a romantic streak like the Smugs, but instead of being flirtatious, it would be in more of an idealistic, in-love-with-the-universe way.

I think a shy personality for males would be really cute. They'd get embarrassed easily, and would ask for approval from your character more than anything else. I feel like this kind of personality would go well with artistic hobbies, so in summary I guess they'd be the modest artist type. They wouldn't get along with peppy villagers since they're literally the polar opposite, nor would they get along with jocks. Snooty villagers would take a liking to them, almost in a sympathetic manner and would try to bolster their confidence, and they would find similarities with normal villagers.

Maybe 'actor' personality. They like being in spotlights and are generally nice, but would often say funny stuff and such.

A scary type, where they say creepy things that are also kind of silly and are generally spooky themed.
They would clash with Normal type and get along with Lazy.
:D

Sociopath or Psychopath and make the game rated T or M and not E.

I doubt it will ever happen but water down personality is not my thing. Because everyone is so nice, it feel so fake. In real life, not everyone like you. That or port over the GameCube version to the Switch (without changing anything) so I can see what I miss out on.

Either a nerd/geek or a really angry type. Cranky villagers aren't particularly grumpy I've found...would like a strong angry personality that you can warm to and as your friendship increases they become nicer just to you

A sassy personality would be interesting. Like a sassy villager is often sarcastic and is a litte bit sneaky.
I also really like the idea of a nerdy personality.

I loved everything about this post, that would be so cool :)

The nerd one that was mentioned before sounds good. Honestly idc though, I just want them to stop catering to oversensitive 5 year olds and make the crankies & snooties rude again.

Shy! I'm surprised they haven't already added it in because it's quite a common type of person ~

I absolutely love these ideas! If Nintendo plans to expand the dialogue of villagers in the next Animal Crossing game or update, it would be amazing.

How about a wild personality? They'd be less civilized and more animalistic. Meaning they don't speak as well as the other villagers, have no interest in clothing, and are probably obsessed with food. I'm just picturing a shirtless tiger villager walking around talking in broken or incomplete sentences. I think it'd be cute, but I'm kind of bad at explaining things. How about an animal villager that behaves like an actual animal is what I'm saying.

sadly i think many people would take offense of this, mainly it being an ''uncivilized'' and ''animalistic'' trait not being able to talk proper english, to many people who struggle with the language... i still like the id?a though, while it defeats the purpose of the ingame characters, maybe they would protest to go back to the old ways? their nature.. zootopia all over again

I never mentioned them speaking in English. I meant them having broken or incomplete sentences in whatever language the game was set to.

about the nerdy thing I would like it but
smugs already say nerdy things like when they talk about trains model and chiptune music
I'm totally agree with the shy idea
and anyway why can't we have a crancky or a jock girl too?
