What new fish & bugs would you like in game (:

I always thought that there are lots of cool stuff to catch that the game is missing out on

I believe you can already catch Manta Rays, can you not? Or is there a specific difference between the ray you can catch and the manta ray? I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with everything on that list though!

Stingrays (found in game) are different than Manta rays

And that if you keep a caterpillar in your home it will eventually become a random butterfly.

I don't have any ideas for bugs and fish but I really wish they would add birds.
You would catch them with your net.You could display them in your house and they would be in different looking cages or perches depending on which kind of bird it is.Pretty much the same as they do with fish and bugs.
I would love to have a big vulture sitting on a gnarly perch or a black crow, a pretty parrot, an owl, etc.
It would be cool to visit them all in the museum too.

My issue with it is how exactly to go about it. Nets could work but they are used for bug catching and catching birds with nets sees odd (an mabey cruel?) lol

Ive thought of another method, but its somewhat complicated.
You have another tool called a camera. When you use it your screen goes into first person view and you would be able to photograph birds. You would take the photo to blathers who will inspect it and determine if its good enough to be in the museum. If it is you would be able to see your photo in the museum and the following day a bird enthusiast (maybe an existing npc like Celeste or a new one) would donate that bird to museum aviary.

The camera could maybe work like something similar to the one in XY (although you would be able to walk around slowly with it) and the judging could be something like pokemon snap? lol It would have to be centered and big enough. Also the camera tool could also be used to take any pictures in first person and will save on the 3ds

Again this is complicated and i dont even know if it makes sense lol

Was gonna bump this thread with new ideas for fossils & art but I did not feel like reasearching

Buuut I feel like bumping this thread anyways cause I like feedback and hearing new ideas


Also does it bother anyone that they decided on having 72 new bugs/fish instead of 75 lol

I feel like ladybugs (not the seven-spotted one already in the game) should make a comeback, along with brook trouts. As for brand new specimens, things such as shame-faced crabs, box fish, and parrot fish would be fun to see, as well as maybe some other bugs that can be found on villagers, such as ticks and lice. Can we add art, too? I'd like to see some Peter Paul Rubens, as well as Pablo Picasso. An old Greek-styled vase would be really neat, too. I can't think of anything good in terms of fossils. Maybe an ancient coral as one of the podium-based displays.
