I would consider you a casual gamer. The games you mentioned seem to revolve around the type of people who just want to pick up the game and play without getting into some techinical stuff from the "get-go".
However, in my free time I usually just play video games. FPS are my favorite ^_^
I would consider myself a hardcore gamer.

I would say you are a Casual/family gamer, as those are the sort of games that a family will all play together.

I'm a Hardcore gamer. I play alot, I play competitiviely, and have been to events/competitions.

Hardcore means pretty much playing any type of game and enjoying it to the fullest in my opinion. Casual means playing a game and...that's it. Playing them and enjoying them to pass the time.

I'm probably a hardcore gamer. I love Animal Crossing, Sonic Unleashed, Counter Strike, Guitar Hero, Pikmin, and The Legend Of Zelda. I have fun playing all of those.

I actually made a thread similar to this a while back, except it was what makes a hardcore game, not gamer. Either way, in my opinion, you don't need to play video games 24/7, or not/play a specific genre.

Like "hardcore" games, there really is no certain thing you need to do to become a "hardcore gamer". There's people who are hardcore gamers, and people who aren't. Taste in games, how much you play them, how much you actually enjoy them, and what you accomplish in these games all make you a hardcore or casual gamer. Now, just because someone has a "casual game", doesn't mean they are a "casual gamer". Same with "hardcore games/gamers."

I'm gonna see if I can find that thread...

Same Here ^_^

If I were to make a judgement I would say a hardcore gamer is a gamer who dedicates his or her time to playing a game he or she is fond of to 100%.

In my opinion, a hardcore gamer doesn't play 24/7. A hardcore gamer is a gamer that gets dedicated to their games, and know their way around most consoles. They know a lot about the (video game) industry, and are usually "good" at most games they play. They don't necessarily have to play with others a lot, but usually they are rather competitive. You, my friend, sound like a casual gamer. Of course, you sound like you could possibly be semi-hardcore.

When it comes to L4D you dont exactly play "competitively"

Well sometimes I feel like ruining some people's games.
Other games require a different game-head on. So you know what to do etc. tactics, or whatever.
Like being in "the zone"
