As the title says, what kind of paths do you use? I'm curious, since I try to make my own. x:

But what do you use? What themes do you like? And of course, do you even USE paths?

OHhh both are nice. I'm thinking of making mine bricks too, but more.. Different. I'm not sure yet. :3

The bricks are pretty popular, I think it would be fun doing a crisscross brick pattern or something. But once again, I get too stressed, because my dream path would be able to be any width, but that means I would need like... 20 pieces... XD

I'm trying to figure out if I want to do large lattice kind of patterns. I might have to look it up, or study the magics of people's artwork of what they perceived when doing so.

I really love the natural paths you get when you run over the grass. But I made my own path for the little more 'fancy' spots in my town. It's four bigger flat rocks and then a blue gemstone in the middle. It's just the one pattern since I like having just one pattern-spot for my paths. I used to have a more bricky type path that I looooved in my old town. But I can't find it, which is why I made my own. It's hard, but so worth it when you are done, because you have something completely unique to your town :D

I'm going to try to make natural paths in my second town, but man. What a pain in the butt to maintain.

I tried putting down some tiles in my old town, but it looked kinda crummy. I don't really like having paths, though. especially since I let villagers come and go. I might try using some tiles in my new town, since buildings are in better places and I can also put pwps in better places... something else to use as decoration around buildings and stuff is kinda nice to have.

the tiles I used before were some that were like, strawberry chocolate. I'd link, but am feeling really lazy right now. :'>

If you put down pattern paths for a while and follow them they start to create a natural path underneath and then you can pull up the pattern for the natural look, it also helps to block it off with something, like making the boarders of the path you want to obtain and then run in between the boarders, it doesn't make it easier to maintain, but easier to go over the same place everyday.

Yeah, I was thinking earlier of planning them out with patterns and then lining them with stumps while I try to wear them down. The main reason I'm going natural and not with a design is because I want a lot of diagonals and curves, and patterns don't do that as well without funky corners, so I think lining them with something to keep me ON the path while I run will be crucial. Planting all those trees, waiting for them to grow, and then cutting them all down will probably be a way bigger PITA than the actual running back and forth everyday, though. D:

All is a good idea, and Mega_cabbage, that patterns. I adore it. :3 You rocked more than I could ever do.

Hollowyn is very much a forest town, so I don't plan to have any patterns down there. I'm lining them with bushes (and flowers, for now), but they'll open into more undeveloped areas.

Salem, which is a bit more urban, but still something of an enchanted village, will have some designated paths. I just designed a flag I like, and someone suggested using a greyscale version as stepping stones. Again, I want to keep areas open and undeveloped, but I like lining them with bushes for a more manicured look. Depending on the type you pick, it can really give it a more formal or informal feel.

I recently restarted my town but in my old town I had brick roads lined with flowers, bamboo, bushes, and trees. It was really pretty! My new town doesn't really have any paths right now but eventually I'd like to lay down some nice pathways.

I'm trying to make natural paths (I mean paths made from fading grass) but it's taking much longer than I thought.ㅠㅠ

Currently in the process of designing my own path design. Aiming for a red or brown brick path design. No luck in creating one I like, though.
