What keeps you from having guests over to your town?

I wanna have friends over desperately, but I'm a bit anxious because of the state of my towns, lol. Just the paths and lack of organization make me cringe so I can only imagine how other people see it. I want to totally give my main town a face lift, but I've had the paths since the beginning so my grass is basically gone underneath them and my town would look even more like landfill. Not to mention the abundance of flowers that I really need to give away. I also have tons of stuff laying around because I haven't gotten around to making a second character yet.

So, what about you guys? It can't just be me.

I have a ton of stuff laying around in my town for my giveaway and I'm afraid people will just take 'em. Happened before.

Apart from that, I'm breeding hybrids and I guess it's the same fear? My town looks fine but I don't want stuff to go missing.

I'm in the same boat as you. My town is nowhere near finished in regards to landscaping since I'm waiting for one villager to move out before I do too much. I've been landscaping in pieces, so parts of the town look great while other parts don't even have paths.

That being said, I'll also be a total hypocrite and say that I guarantee that no visitor is judging your town and checking to make sure every tile is landscaped to perfection. I've visited plenty of towns and never have I had a negative thought cross my mind regarding the town (unless there's immature or weird patterns displayed, but that doesn't count). If I don't see paths, I just figure that they haven't gotten to it yet or don't want them. If I see items, I just figure they haven't put them away, no big deal. We're our own worst critics, haha.

I haven't even attempted to landscape any of my towns yet, so there's that. Plus I'd feel awkward. I probably wouldn't be able to uphold a casual conversation. ^^'

I would also like to have people over but I'm paranoid that people will steal my things. I have stuff literally everywhere.


I've also had people chop down my fruit trees for NO reason (I didn't realize until after they'd left) and take my Hybrids then LIE on a forum saying i actually visited HER town and stole her hybrids

I'm not a very social person so I don't have people over unless we're trading or they're coming over to get a villager. The character limit is also frustrating!

I have a lot of hybrids. Lots of them. It'd be really easy for someone to steal them, so I limit visitors to the train station/Re-Tail for trades, and only one of my IRL friends.

I'd like for people to come over....I just don't want someone to destroy my towns as I worked hard on it. When I first got my first town back in June before I worked on my town people would come over. I've met people I consider real friends I trust them. I just let them come over to visit.

For trades I have no problem with someone coming to my town though.

I totally get you, i'm the same.

My town is getting there, but it's not at the level I want it to be yet and i'm conscious of what people would think. Which as @SonatinaGena pointed out is probably totally irrelevant and entirely my own stupidity (i've never had a negative thought about anyones town either)!! I also hate the typing aspect cause the keyboard is so fiddly to use, and it takes me forever to chat >.<

I just want everything to be perfect dammit xD

I'm so finicky about my grass ugh!!! I hate when people even tiptoe across it. xD Also the shoddy chat feature is a bit of a negative, because I have a hard enough time being conversational as it is.

The one and only reason is that I don't want people to come over and destroy my town. If connecting with friends, I know I'm safe but with strangers online...no thanks. They can do anything to my town and then just leave and there would be next to nothing i could do about it.

Called Nintendo about 6 times and my internet provider and none of them have a solution LOL.
People get insta-resetti when they try to come and it doesn't give an error code.

I don't trust people that much, but it's mostly just that I get really anxious about having to chat with people, since nobody I know irl plays. It's the same reason why I don't like to text new people, do online chatrooms, etc.

Mostly the fact that I don't have much to offer. I'll have people over to adopt someone or to sell turnips, or even the signatures here and there, but that's about it aside from having a friend over for a few.
