Having just recently started up a new Island, I found myself very endeared to the layout I have. It's really pretty, in my opinion anyway. I like it and honestly I'm feeling like I don't really want to Terraform (other than bridges/stairs for accessibility obviously.)

I'm curious, what is your take on not terraforming your Island?
Do any of you have Islands you have NOT Terraformed?

I'd love to see pics, if you want to share, too!

Honestly Im on the fence on wanting to terraform or not. I like the layout of my island too but there’s a spot I wanted to put an incline at though it wont let me because it’s not flat 😭 So if I do decide to terraform its just to straighten it up. I like how the rest of my island flows so far, I restarted my island too on my new switch and forgot about the transferring… On the brightside it means I have two islands now 😅

I personally think terraforming is cool but personally for me, I go a bit overboard with it and end up not liking my layout afterwards.

MEEEEEH. That is so me in my OG Island. I love it, I put so much effort into it but now when I go on I see things I want to change I'm just like "Eh..." cause I put so much effort into it that I'm kind of burned out? I don't know. TBH though I'm having a blast on my new Island. That and I miiiiight have started up another NL Island e.e;
Just wish I could find my 2DSXL so I could get back into my OG Town. I feel like NL was one I could always go back to and not feel bad lol.

I wish that I hadn’t terraformed mine, I deeply regret going blank slate which was popular at the time when the game released. If I could go back and have my default island again I would! I find terraforming overstimulating and don’t do it anymore

Oh man!!! You make me want to play on my NL towns xD hahahaha! I still have mine but they’ve been collecting dust x.x i feel bad for my villagers there.. i had gotten all my dreamies and then i think i had a 2nd town for cycling villagers.. i think my biggest mistakes/regrets are sticking to the same few villagers and layout. That and time traveling 😅 its a habit i broke a bit but its tempting!

Yes!! I was thinking of going blank slate when I first started the island, but then i saw the layout and decided not to. I got some neat ideas I want to do with the layout now, and im holding off on doing any major terraforming other than straightening spots for inclines/bridges.

Honestly? I terraformed the heck out of my OG Island and my Forest themed one. But the one I started on my SW2, I'm kind of just vibing with and I'm really enjoying that.

I'm guilty of Time Traveling but I don't mind it haha. For me personally, I just like to have things to do/collect so I don't use TT much for that aspect so XD
I miss my main NL town. I booted up my 3ds and the game I have there is one that was hardly touched, so I must have been starting it x.x Which means my OG game is in my missing 2dsXL q.q

My island is a disaster that has never been terraformed. There's items and flowers scattered everywhere and I really cannot be bothered to fix it. I never completely paid off my house so I don't have enough storage and grinding for bells wasn't fun to me. The thought of having to individually dig up flowers in a game where the shovel breaks sounds very unfun as well. I don't think designing islands is something I want to do.

Yeah, I think my burn out probably started when I went hard terraforming to try and make my Island as pretty as some of the ones I seen. But I don't really enjoy terraforming. I just love the simplicity of hanging out with villagers, collecting things to fill my museum, etc. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy making my Island pretty! Just I think maybe I needed to step away and stop worrying about terraforming and focus on just enjoying the game in order to get that magic back and tbh so far it has def been working

I'm okay not terraforming as I'm not good at it, and when I do, I always end up restarting.

I always feel better when I'm not terraforming, which only makes finding a map a bit more harder for me.

I’ve only ever had my original island. I’ve done some terraforming too it, but the general layout is still the same as how I started.

For me, I liked how in older games you were given a unique layout and when visiting other towns you could notice all of the differences from your own. These kind of differences don’t come out in the same way when terraforming, so I prefer a minimalist approach.

I think for a long time people really viewed terraforming as some competitive thing and I'm not that great at it either so it totally stressed me out. I like how my OG and forest island (so far anyway) turned out but I really don't want to make myself feel those competitive vibes again. :3 feel like it kind of ruined the game a BIT for me (i did it to myself x.x)

I love love that we can decorate our islands! But yeah I think I could have done without terraforming.

Finally being able to put furniture outside is fantastic! I love being able to create little spaces like seating areas, or add decorations around buildings to make it seem more like a town. But terraforming is be fine without lol

Plus to be able to terraform, the rivers and cliffs in NH have those ugly square-ish edges…

I remember early on I spent time setting up a lil star catching area lol

Thats what I was trying to post lol.
I felt myself being burnt out when I terraformed, maybe also it took forever.
I feel accomplished when I find my forever map and I don't have to do anything with it. :3

I'm currently terraforming my island to elevate some areas more, though I don't think everyone should feel obligated to use this feature because of how overwhelming it can be. Like if you're gonna make an island without terraforming, you might want to decorate your island by placing furniture outside and planting trees to create depth.

I prefer minimalist islands, so if an island hasn’t been terraformed much, I’d rather go and wander around that island than a super terraformed and decorated one.

I’ve terraformed my island, but I’ve kept it natural. So my current map looks like it could be a map you would start the game with, and I’ve just added decor like log benches and street lamps to keep that natural town feel.

If I restarted, I would probably just work with the map I got and not terraform. I’d just add bridges and ramps and make some cute little seating areas where the cliffs naturally create a little cove.

Yeah. I like to think my Islands are terraformed moderately, but I def have been to some islands where it feels like every five seconds I'm running into a wall or getting stuck somewhere x.x
