What is your strategy to getting a villager's picture?

So, what is your strategy to getting a villager's picture? I remember in the first town I created on AC:NL, I would try so hard to get Willow's picture for weeks. I gave up, but I still talked and did things for her every day. Eventually, she decided on moving and I finally let her go. I was a little mad at myself because I never got her picture, but then she sent it to me in her goodbye letter.

This is great and all, but I hope that's not the only way you can get their picture. I know sometimes they ping and they give it to you after they decide you guys are best friends, but I want to know, how do you know when you've become best friends?

It would be a huge pain to wait for my villager to move to give me their picture. I am trying to get Baabara's picture currently, and there is absolutely no way I am letting her move out of my town because she is my favorite villager of all time.

So far, I've been talking to them every day, saying yes to everything they want (losing a bunch of bells buying their overpriced items I don't even want, catching bugs/fish, collecting fossils, even burying capsules), and sending them letters attached to nice gifts wrapped in wrapping paper.

I've been doing this since last Saturday for Baabara and Eugene. I have not time traveled.

Is there anything else I should do and keep in mind?

- give them perfect fruit whenever they ask for fruit
- take care of them when they're sick
- try to do as many requests for them as possible

or of course you could wait until April 1st and get their picture then

I usually do all of those things when I get the chance, but none of them have been sick yet. So far, I haven't though of perfect fruit but in my first town I used to do that all the time. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't even think about the perfect fruit.

I don't remember what happens on April 1st so I guess I will wait haha

I just help them with the errands/requests/invatations they gotta throw at me (Except picking a time when visiting a house/a villager visiting mine) And I get their picture.

So far I haven't gotten any yet ever since I recently restarted.

It's only been since Saturday that Baabara came to my town in boxes. I started sending letters to Eugene from that Saturday too, except he came a couple days before Baabara did.

I guess I am doing everything correctly, I just need to wait.

How long does it usually take? A week?

You can get their picture any time. You just have to be really really close with them. In my old town, I was best friends with Benjamin. One day he gave me his picture for doing a favor for him. And then he gave me like 7-8 more over the course of a few months. Lol. It was getting ridiculous.

I just got Marshal's picture recently after I sent him a bunch of letters. I was actually trying to get him to change his shirt because he was wearing a hideous grape shirt, but I ended up getting his picture ^_^

I'm hoping I'll get Bree's picture next. She came over unannounced today, which I think is a good sign!

I just speak with my villagers every day and try to complete most of their tasks. When I give them gifts I try to make them somewhat rare items. I really hate writing letters which I know helps, but I just can't bring myself to do it ;w;

April Fool's day, to be honest :/
It was in my cycling town, so I didn't really mind TT'ing around or which villager was leaving as long as I got their pic XP

Otherwise I would send them a letter each day with a perfect fruit attached to them, complete their tasks with exceptional gifts (e.g: they ask for fruit, I give them Perfect non-native fruit), talking to them for a fair amount of times and visiting them when they're in their home.

I send a letter with a gift every day, talk to them several times a day, do errands for them, accept their invitations to visit their house, and let them visit my house when they ask. If they ask for fruit, try to give them a perfect fruit if you can. Marshal finally gave me his picture when I gave him a perfect pear. It took about 4 months with him. Everyone else seems to give me a picture within 4 to 5 weeks.

a way to tell whether or not you're getting close is whether or not they come to your house without asking, rudy came to my house three or four times then maybe a couple days later i got his picture! and for some snooty villagers (whitney for me) you can tell how much they like you by how they greet you and stuff, and i'm (pretty) sure that you don't have to send letters every single day, but i think presents that have their favorite style or colors will appeal to them more. you can find that on thonky btw haha best of luck to you getting pictures

i've been starting to send them letters with customized furniture and perfect fruit/treats. i also like to give them perfect fruits when they request one and i let them take the whole tour of my house so that they leave on their own, rather than me leaving first. i've yet to get pictures from anyone with this method, but it does boost your friendship levels with them when you go above and beyond for them.

Have they asked for the petition yet? That's a sign that your friendship is higher.
Angus has given me 20 pictures. Daisy was my last hold out.
Sent her customize furniture, best fish/bug and always perfect fruit. There is a Birthday list on Thonkys Guide that says what a villager likes the most. Try sending them one of those items. My problem was my friendship went down when I couldn't get the fish she asked for. It was an easy one and finally caught it. She was gone to bed when I delivered it. Sent her a letter in the mail saying I had it but she was asleep.
I always say yes to having visitor over or visit them.
To get out of a time visit you could say yes. Than open your gates and have a friend drop by. Go find the villager that you were suppose to visit and they'll tell you something came up. The playdate gets cancelled if someone is visiting.

But that's too easy, so my best possible strategy is to send them a lot of letters, give them rare and expensive stuff, talk to them every single day, give them perfect fruit, and do their tasks regardless of how farfetch'd it is.
