I got the game in March and the first month and a half or so was full of TTing. I'm a huge perfectionist, so I wanted my town (read: villagers) to be the way I wanted ASAP. :p

But now about 2 months in I'm very happy with my town - especially my 10 dream villagers! So lately I've enjoyed playing the old-fashioned way and TTing is officially off limits. I love just playing about 30 min a day to check on villagers, shops, etc.

What's your play style? Have you found it's changed over time as mine has?

I play day to day for about 3+ hours every day without time traveling or plot resetting for villagers or buying villagers from people on here or any other website.

I plan to do so in my newest town.

I play daily for an hour or so, a bit more on the weekends though. I don't plot reset, villager trade, or time travel, at least in the conventional sense.

I time travel in the sense that I change the hour of the day multiple times per day. I usually can only play in the early mornings, so I will change the time to after the shops have opened. If I get a chance to play in the afternoon, I'll then set the clock back to real time so it isn't too dark out.

Really, I suffer from an ordinance problem. I need Beautiful to maintain my flowers, but since I can't ALSO have Early Bird, I have to keep time-hopping around in my days.

I really wish we could have two ordinances... but that's straying off my point.

I play ACNL pretty casually overall, and I have yet to get tired of it. XD

i solely played day to day and only adopted villagers from my own campsite. i would play hours upon hours upon hours, and then fang moved out of my town.

after that happened, i put down the game for a long time. i picked it up again recently and finished cycling 16 villagers, got fang back and now i'm back to playing day to day, though not nearly as long as i used to. just to finish the daily chores, longer if i feel like it. i've had the game for about a year now, and i guess for some that's a really long time to not have the town completely finished but it's really come a long way.

I do a lot of time traveling, but right now it's like Groundhog Day in my town: not the actual day, but like the movie where I keep resetting the clock to the same day over and over again because I don't want to worry about villagers leaving right now.

I play two of my towns day by day and have since day one. My third wich i started about a month ago i did do a little TTing at first, but now i also play day by day. I have them each set to different times of the year so its always different :)

I avoid time travel as much as possible, I usually play 1-3 hours a day but lately it's only been a half hour. I spend a lot of time talking to my villagers and doing favors for them. I plot reset, but I'm not really picky about it, anywhere that isn't on a path is fine. I don't like having a lot of flowers or patterns and like to have a more "open" town with grass visible and I usually plant a moderate amount of flowers around villager houses, pwps, and buildings. I like to get new villagers every few months, I don't necessarily have "dreamies" save for a few that I wouldn't be able to let go, like Pietro, Rudy, and Roscoe. The rest I like a lot but eventually get bored of them.

I play daily every few days then take a few days break. I just started playing again after a 7 month hiatus and am trying to get back into at least spring '15 by tt'ing. After I get to April I'll just play once a day :p

When I got the game on release, I played everyday for hours and hours. I had to take a break because of school so I went on a long hiatus. Now that I'm on summer break, I've been playing everyday again. I'm starting to go back to playing everyday, all day. It's mostly to get try to finish getting a lot of the gold badges and completing my catalog.

Been having this game for 1,5 months now, trying not to TT but ended up going to next day and back like 4-5 times cause I was quite bored :/ I do plot reset though (since Rocco moved in literally right in front of my town hall) and gaming quite a lot daily when I dont have to work :D

My playstyle has evolved depending on what my aims are, and the fact I am completely unable to access the internet reflects this. When I first started, I wanted to fill the museum so my playstyle involved me running around searching for fossils, catching fish and catching insects.

Once my fossil collection was complete and all missing critters are out of season, I decided to fully upgrade my house. Once I had gotten the last expansion (which I am yet to pay, poor Nook) I turned to badges.

My overarching goal for a while now is to get the gold catalogue badge, which is a great badge to work for as it requires you to work towards lots of other badges. Better get to the island and go on tours so you can buy island exclusive stuff. Better get to the island and catch beetles so you can bank the money and afford Gracie's stuff when it comes around. I managed to get the letter writing badge by buying new stationary for my catalogue then packaging my catalogue purchases and mailing them to villagers as I didn't care what their houses looked like, and along the way got the gold master shopper badge.

Lately I've taken to working on the Refurbishing badge, so I keep checking the beach for giant clam shells. I also make sure I find the money and ore rock each day, as well as check all shops to see if they have missing items. Even if I can only pay a few minutes, I try to check the shops and rocks each day. I work, so my longer play sessions are saved for days I don't work.

What with all this expense I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit the 5000 insect catching badge without trying. My mayor is pretty much decimating the entire beetle population of the island.

My play style is.. whatever happens, happens. No plot resetting ^^ If someone moves in a bad spot, I landscape around them and make it look as pretty as possible. If a trees/bush arrangement doesn't look symmetrical, I'll redo the entire thing until it's pleasing to the eye. Villagers can wear any weird shirt they want (judgement free zone) :D and have anything in their house.

Oh and hybrids and jacob's ladders can pop up when they feel like it. I'm too lazy to water anything dhfhjsfg

When I first got the game, it was my first ever AC so I was VERY laid back and enjoyed every little thing- catching all the fish, talking to villagers, going over their houses, watering every flower, decorating my houses and then....I joined this forum about a year ago and saw how rad everybody's towns were and I learned a whole bunch of stuff and I was shocked how dinky and gross my little town was in comparison to everyone's, so I restarted and it was hard, and I tried to make the new town better than my old one but I was copying off of what I thought was cool at the time, and I started TTing, and I lost one of my favorite villagers--- it was a nightmare.

Since I completed my first town, my second game is a far more relaxing experience. I moved in 4 of my dreamies in quick succession, so I play each day naturally and talk to each of them to make sure no one moves out ~ especially Flurry.

Once I've fiddled with layout I can start to create the town theme, but I'm in no rush. I'm just happy with my villagers they take first priority.

As for how much I play a day, it changes a lot. Sometimes I can go long without spending any time in my town, but sometimes there are phases during which I don't do anything but play AC.

I have time travelled a lot ever since my first ACNL town. The TTing was worst in my second town and I didn't do anything but TT. Playing wasn't fun anymore and I couldn't enjoy the small everyday things in AC. Then I reset again and took part in the one year challenge that involved no TTing or plot resetting. I had also plot reset in the past. It was great to play without doing both of those. Buut then I lost interest in the game for a few months and reset again after getting it back. That brings us to my current town. I TTd through the 5 first months just to get started. I caught up with the current date a couple of days ago. Since then it's been no TTing for me. It's been great this way, and I'll do my best to not TT anymore. I do plot reset, though. I'm too much of a perfectionist to give that up.

For now, my current daily routine involves a lot of things... I talk to all of my nice neighbors, dig up the fossils, breed hybrids, landscape, go to a shopping spree, decorate my rooms, go to the island, earn money to afford expansions and PWPs, catch bugs and fish and I'm also trying to get 1 PWP request a day. See, there's so much to do even without time travel. :)

In the morning I do the normal chores stuff, then the rest of the day I just fish or catch bugs on the island. I've never TT'd and I probably never will (then again, I've only owned New Leaf for little over a week).

I've been playing for about 3 months. I've never time traveled, and I don't intend to.

As far as my play style is concerned, I've spread myself out pretty thin! I'm always helping out villagers, catching common bugs that I don't need, gardening, fruit picking, coffee sipping, furniture rearranging, beetle hunting...

I don't spend a lot of time fishing because it requires full attention.

I don't spend a lot of time online with other people, but now that I've joined this message board I think that will start to change!

I normally collect fossils and harvest my rocks every day, plus eventual interactions and favors. I was always checking the shops and the HHA for new pieces of catalog but now it's getting stagnant.

Sometimes I go to the island to earn some money/medals, and often I collect all my perfect fruit (I have over 80) to sell later. Since now it's June, it's time to go back to the fish/insect catalog.

Currently I'm landscaping a bit, mostly making flower patterns (as they are all over the place in my town). When I'm done, I'll put all the other flowers on the beach and wait for hybrids.

When I get 10 villagers I like, I'll think on a better landscape with paths and PWPs.

In short: I do some light chores daily, and have some long-term goals like badges/landscaping which I'm approaching little by little, without time traveling.

I play it the traditional way -- doing the daily of collecting fossils, reading letters, watering flowers, visiting shops, and giving Dr. shrunk fruit. I only time travelled before to unlock all the stores after resetting, since I was not going to be waiting for them to open for a month or so.

Otherwise, I dont think I will be TTing again anytime soon. And I also think part of the fun would be getting my dream villagers as I play; it would then be much more worthwhile.

In a sense I would play the more 'traditional' way. I haven't done any of the plot resetting, time traveling, etc. I do the daily tasks, such as watering, digging up fossils, visiting villagers, etc. However, I tend to play in binges and once I have one thing on my mind, that's all I will do.

For example, I recently decided to give the rooms in my house more 'flow' and themes. I made the main room into a kitchen, to the left I have a movie theater, to the right I have a bathroom, downstairs will be a bar/game room, upstairs a bedroom, and I don't have an idea for the backroom. Maybe a study. Now I am on every day checking my shops and shaking trees for furniture to fill my catalog and find the pieces I want.

Since that is taking to long, I started collecting all the bugs and fish, and trying to find my one last fossil. It's starting to consume my evenings and weekends.

Then after a while, I stop playing for a few months until I pick it up again. I usually stop because I become too busy, or a new game comes out.
