Hello, mayors!

What in the world is Tomodachi Life?
I've seen it on these forums and on Tumblr.

But it doesn't really look appealing.
Why is it popular? What makes it fun?

Hi there!!
So, I've only had my 2DS for about three months, and I've had Tomodachi Life for about two months. I'm not a huge gamer, but my impression is that it's a super watered-down The Sims. You create little Mii characters, they live in their own apartments, you dress and feed and play with them. However, your control over their personal lives and development is severely limited. You cannot assign them spouses or tell them who to meet. It's all based on chance. You just have to keep checking in, and every once in a while one of them will say something like "I want to be friends with _____!" And you can tell them to go for it or to not. So if you've got two characters that you create at the same time, who are intended to fall in love, they may not even meet for WEEKS (if at all, really).
And that wouldn't be too bad, if that didn't seem to be the end-goal of every personal interaction in the game. Getting them to fall in love and get married and have babies. The babies can then grow up to become "travelers," going to other peoples' islands through streetpass and coming back occasionally to give you updates on their journeys (to my understanding; I haven't done this yet). That seems to be the only thing to really look forward to. Every day there will be new food and clothes and apartment interiors to buy and give to them, but that seems to be the extent of the rewards you get for checking in every day.
Phew! That was long-winded, sorry. Overall, I have to say, I've stopped checking in every day. I bought it because my brothers and their girlfriends were playing it every day and they loved it, and it WAS cute. I only spent about ten dollars on it, since I had some giftcards from my college graduation party. That said, for $10? Yes. But I don't think it would be worth spending the $36 it was at the time, and probably still is, and I'm glad I didn't try too hard to convince my boyfriend to buy it too.
Also first post hi hello ^_^

No idea why but I'm addicted to that game. It's like ACNL meets The Sims. It's adorable and funny and even though it doesn't seem like it, there's quite a bit to do. You populate your place with Miis and they become friends, do everyday things like hang out and work, get into relationships, marriage, children, etc. I find it a lot of fun.
