What is so bad about them.

One of the reasons I am not on here much anymore is because of all the hate I see at times. I know I have based Marshal many times, but I stopped that. Anyway, the question I have is this. There are quite a few species I see that get a lot of hate. They are: Lion, Hippo, Monkey, and Gorilla. I really do not see what is so bad about these species. In fact I think they are some of the best character models in the game. Why do lots of people seem to hate them?

Idk. The monkey is cute I think. The others are, in my opinion, just too big. I think that's it. I just don't think they're cute and I want cute >.<

I can't really answer this question since I don't really hate any of the villager species. I hate specific characters, but I like quite a few villagers within the species you listed.

I know a lot of people say that gorillas are "ugly", but that's more a matter of personal preference than anything else.

lots of people like the 'cute' characters like some cats and tigers. it goes better with their towns i guess. maybe there aren't enough of them that the player likes.

Hiippos and Gorillas are a lot bigger in game than they need to be. People don't like huge animals because they don't find bigger things to be as cute as like a Duck or Squirrel.
I can't answer the rest. :/ just preference, I guess.

Alot of the fanbase obsesses over cute things so anything that isn't all sparkly, pastel and well.. ''cute'' doesn't get much attention
Also big animals are overall thought to be less cute.

Besides imo anyway the gorilla model isn't all that pleasing to the eye... there was this one jock gorilla I liked though but the other gorillas are a bit bland in my eyes.

I think everyone just has their own tastes. I have Lionel in my town and I love him, but I don't care much for the others you've listed. I just don't like their designs. And that's just my opinion. Doesn't mean someone else can't like them, I just don't.

it depends what kind of size , personality , and how cute/cool looking they are .

idk why lions aren't more popular, they're really cute imo. not a fan of most of hippos/monkeys/gorillas though, their models are just..eugh. although, i do love hans

I'm not really fond of the bigger animals in general (and I don't like most of their designs), and for some reason I don't like the monkey's either, although I like them in real life.

Some of the lions are great though. If I ever get back into Animal Crossing and start my second town, I'm going to get Lionel.

Honestly.......seeing this makes me even more proud and honored to have all 4 of those species in my town. Makes the town more unique. Plus I do not see anything wrong with the character models. In fact I think the bigger animals are a bit better, and even have better character models. Plus, don't even act like the smaller ones don't also have problems of their own. Why does no one ever bring up the problem with the squirrel's model when it sits in a chair? Besides, do people really think a hippo, the third largest land animal, should NOT have a large character model. Giving it a small one would be like making the mice the largest species in the game. Plus, I think it is better to have a diversity in size. (Chester, Peanut, Zucker = Small. Flip, Mira, Hopper = Medium. Hans, Rory, Bertha, Merengue = Large). In my opinion, having just 1 size would get rather dull VERY quick. Plus I think the models for those 4 are great, the pointy head and big feet are very monkey-like and look great. The spiky mane of the lions look fantastic, the hippos actually have their massive teeth (stupid Madagascar. I love those movies, but they forgot the epic massive, crocodile-crushing teeth on Gloria.) and I love their head shape. Plus the gorilla's head makes me want to call them pinhead......larry. I think they all look great, and find them rather underrated.

I like all of hte animals. There are some I like less, but at the end of the day, if they come to my town I'll end up liking them eventually. I've even grown fond of the chicken Becky.

Not once has someone said the larger models should be small, just that they prefer the smaller models and don't like how the big models look. Seriously, like I said, opinions. Everyone has 'em.

You sound like you're getting kind of worked up over nothing, but I could be taking what you're saying wrong.

I dont really take it personally when i see threads where people seem to "hate" a species i like or a villager i like. You have to just shrug and go, well, they are entitled to their opinions. Even if they are not expressing it in a nice way. Also, some people are just not very careful wording this on the internet and sometimes there is no bad intention, but can just come across that way in words. Last, have to have some leeway on a site like this, there are many users here where English is not their daily language.

I used to not like the gorillas in Animal Crossing until New Leaf. Hans is currently my favorite villager in my town. Bob may be my favorite villager of all time, but Hans is a very close second.

I think the rhinos and hippos are super cute, too, just because I love larger animals in general. If I didn't love a majority of my current villagers, I'd totally move some out to attempt to get some rhino or hippo villagers.
