That smug sneaky wolf keeps giving me fake paintings! The other day he sold me a fake Serene Painting and today he gave me a fake Basic Painting. Granted he didn't charge me for it (he was going to charge me 7,000 bells for it but decided to give give it to me for free. He charged me for the Serene Painting though) He's as sneaky and rip offy as Redd. Must be getting tips from him or something lol. He's the only one of my villagers who has been giving me paintings and they have all been fake.

Personally, I've never gotten a real painting from a smug villager. It may be possible but no idea. 0:

If your friendship level is high enough with them, they pawn the painting off on you for free at very least. Sneaky sneaky

Kyle and Flo are the two who sell me paintings. I had the same 7000 bell/free switcheroo thing happen, too. At first they were giving me lots of fakes but as my friendship increased they seem to be doing that less often! I haven't gotten either of their pictures yet, but I'm working on Flo sending her my perfect pears. (Meanwhile, Poncho and Merry who I don't even like have both given me their pictures.)

I have a pretty high friendship level with him. I think. And i would expect this sneakiness from a snooty or cranky villager but not a smug. But then he is a wolf. Wolves can be sneaky too, like foxes.

Lol it's always the villagers you don't like that give you the best stuff lol. Good luck with trying to get Flo's picture. I usually only get pictures from characters like Zipper or Resetti. I never really tried to get villagers picture. Might be a fun challenge.

Smug, Uchi and Cranky villagers will sometimes sell you art. However, Smug and Uchi villagers have a pretty high chance of selling you a fake piece. Cranky villagers are slightly more likely to sell you a real piece.

If I had to take a guess, Smug and Uchi villagers have about a 70% chance of selling you a fake piece while Cranky villagers have a 60% chance of selling you a real piece. This is just from my own experiences over the years of playing the game.

I've also heard friendship effects these rates slightly to lean in your favour as well.

I have two cranky villages and an uchi and none of them offered me a painting. Only Kyle and I don't really trust him anymore. Lol

Oh dear god he's offering me another basic painting! He just gave me a fake one eariler. And why is it always Kyle! And he charged me for it this time. I don't know why bought it from him after being ripped off by him twice. -_-

Yep another fake. I am not getting paintings from villagers anymore. I will just stick with getting them from Redd. At least with him I can check if they are real or not before I spend money on them.

I'm impatient, and it's so easy to earn bells I'd rather risk getting ripped off, but yeah, it is annoying you can't check them before you buy them!

I was pretty suspicious of Flo and Kyle the first few times they sold me art because of the forgeries, but eh whatever.
