What does "food as a gift" mean?

When asking for Toy Day gifts, Alice and Ankha said food... Does that mean a basket of fruit/mushrooms/candy/etc. or an actual foody furniture item? (Samgyetang, Yule log, turkey, etc.)

Last year, one of the gifts in my Toy Day bag was a piece of fruit. That's probably what your villager wants. Pretty sad, huh? Everyone else wants furniture or a carpet and one villagers asks for fruit...which they could pick off a tree for free. LOL

Aw, that's cute! I've never had any villagers ask for fruit. They've always wanted stuff. Obviously my villagers are more materialistic than most
