What do you like to do when you have visitors in your town?

I think I have a fairly nice town, and I'd like to make friends and start having people over more often but I always feel like I'm being a boring host. >.>;
I like going on tours because I'm trying to hoard metals, but other than going to the island and club LOL I'm never sure how to entertain my guests.
Any ideas are welcome. <3

I don't really know either. I just try to be talkative but usually the person doesn't seem interested in conversation so I stand around awkwardly.

Maybe try to host games? I've been to one town that hosted a scavenger hunt, one that did a digging game with tons of pit fall seeds scattered about, and one that held a fishing contest. Island tours are fun too as you suggested xD.

I'm planning a murder mystery for when my town is done and I make a dream address, it would be good to test out some of my hiding places this way though.

Seriously, tho, I feel you. I'm not sure, either. I've had few visitors and they've always just come to trade or look for fish or bugs because my towns are on different months than theirs.

I'm way too demanding of my village to let anyone touch it. XD
I have had a couple friends come over and help me design certain areas, which can be fun.
Even if I end up doing it all my way.

I don't think you should feel like you have to play hostess or anything I think that when most people visit a village they just like to poke around and see what you've done with it. I don't expect people to talk a lot or entertain me, because the entertainment is just exploring. But if you really want to do something, I second the person who said to have a scavenger hunt. Or maybe a hide and seek type thing?

My only grudge against basements is that there's no way to make them into hidden rooms ;o;
I love that they give the option of horror themes in the game though, it opens up so many possibilities. <3

I get what you mean though, exploring the town if pretty much all I do when I visit other towns. It seems like some of the towns I see are almost always full of different people. I have a lot of people added so I always assume I'm just a boring host.
Then again I guess there's a lot of potential reasons for that. >.>:

I've considered trying to make some kind of maze before using bushes, but I only use yellow hibiscus so it seemed like too much effort... Plus almost every square of my town has a planned use haha.

I get that feeling too, though I never really hang out with anyone in my town except for my best friends irl, they just run around, fish if its raining, talk to my villagers, and we chat too of course. Though I do wish I could arrange something more exciting sometimes...
Usually I help them out with getting items they need and I ask them about pwp placement and stuff.

I really like being able to have a conversation with someone, talk about plans for the town or what villagers they like most or are hoping to get, but typing on the 3ds is really awkward so if someone doesn't want to chat I won't push it.

I feel like maybe part of the reason aren't too talkative is because it's such a huge pain to type out long messages.

I always worry they think i'm being super paranoid that they're up to no good because I do that (Follow them around and watch them the whole time), but the truth is i'm just having a ball watching how they're enjoying their time here. In the far future I hope to have a town interesting looking enough that people will enjoy coming to visit and just enjoy loitering in the cool environment.

You might be onto something actually.
Following people around and seeing what they like to do it probably the best way to figure out how to entertain them.
