I'm running out of storage space because I horde all the event and other non-orderable furniture. I'm wondering what the rest of the community do with these items?
I'm actually beginning to stop hoarding so much. If I walk around town long enough a villager will ask for it. Now it goes to Re-Tail or my personal trash can. Yay. Say "NO" to stuff!!! Now would you be willing to trade?........:0)
I horde the non-orderable furniture and event items. I'm running out of room as well! My museum is filled with this stuff, and some of it I don't even like. It's really hard to let go of them for me unless I know one of my villagers has it or another person will use it. I'm starting to try and get rid of things, but it isn't easy when you can't get it back.
I used to save the extras and items I don't like to sell or trade but I find using the forums is very MISS for me. I generally get crickets chirping in my trading/selling threads so now I just sell everything I don't want. Most of it I don't want and I don't need extras of the things I do like so it all gets sold.
*sigh* I am a hoarder. I'm getting MUCH better and have begun cleaning out my closets. I still have a lot of stuff, tho. I fear losing the unorderables forever and maybe my touch of OCD adds to this.
I hope to have some giveaways of good items in the not-so-distant future, tho. The people here are awesome.
I was hoarding at first, but I ran out of room pretty quickly. For items I only kind of like, I'll try to make them work with my house, but sometimes that just doesn't happen. In that case, I'll sell it either here or elsewhere online. Sometimes, I will just dump non-orderables off at my brother's town since he's pretty good at figuring out a nice arrangement for even the tackiest furniture. I get really excited when the furniture is customizable, though. I wasn't sure what to do with that Double-Neck Guitar Nintendo Zone item, but you can get customize the body however you'd like pretty much. Now it fits in with one of my museum exhibits. I still have a few fortune cookie items I need to do something with, but they'll probably go into one of my remaining museum exhibits when I get around to finding a nice wallpaper and carpet combo. Those exhibits are total space savers.
If I'm not currently using it, I store it in letters at the post office. I have 4 characters so that is 720 items that can be stored at the post office, plus the 720 storage spots I have in the houses. I don't keep re-orderable items if I'm not currently using them. If I want them at some point, I'll just order them.
Depends really. If it's like only a turkey or random food stuff I don't have any use for I eat or sell them but if it's nice stuff like that tam o shanter hat or those chairs I keep em
I check to see if it's orderable (I see a bunch of re-orderable DLC mentioned here) and if it is I ditch it without thinking about it. If it's definitely not re-orderable it depends on if I like the set or not. I don't even keep full sets necessarily once I've catalogued them. At most I'll keep one set, so with 3 characters (my 4th is not permanent) I have room.
When I get rid of it I sell some of it off to Re-tail but if I think it would look good in a villager's house I give it to them (my fauna came with a mostly demolished house and I've redecorated with the mush set, for example) .
