I absolutely adore Lunavila, I've been the mayor of it for over a year and every one of my villagers feels like a real friend to me. I'd really rather not reset, but as of lately, I just don't really know what to do. I've started losing the motivation to really play it much other than to make sure no one is moving and to collect the fossils/find the money rock/other "dailies". I've kinda started attempting to regrow the grass, but other than that, I've just started to find playing that town a little stale.

On the other hand, my other two towns are becoming more fun to play. Drowsy has a coherent theme in mind and I'm still trying to get my final dreamy or so for that town, so I love a lot to look forward to in terms of new villagers, landscaping, and house decorating. And Solavila, while it's Wild World so it has more limitations than New Leaf, I haven't even started on landscaping and have just finally time traveled enough so that all my villagers are really great, so I have so much to do and enjoy.

I have ideas for other towns that would probably require just a clean slate (totally new villagers, totally untouched land, a new house, etc), but I feel really conflicted on the idea of resetting Lunavila. I've worked on it for so many hours, and every villager feels like a true friend to me, so I'm considering just waiting until I can afford another copy of New Leaf to work on those ideas.

I guess, what suggestions do you have to make the town feel really fresh for myself without getting rid of villagers or resetting?

What keeps me playing acnl is I give myself objectives. For example if you want to build up your town to make it perfect theres a bunch of smaller things to do like, growing hybrids getting all your dreamies, plot resetting, do the diving trick for pwps, the list goes on and on. Im currently fixing up my house which involves searching the internet for inspiration, going to holidays to get special furniture and scouring tbt retail to get any items that i dont have. The best part about fixing up your town is that it never feels done. I'll always want to tweek something whether i dont like it or if i want to change it for the time of year/holiday. At any rate, I'd strongly suggest building up your town its a long and fulfilling route, that'll keep me preoccupied for hours

Sometimes, the best thing to do is take a break from it. If you wanna spice things up, maybe pursue some achievements? Getting all the badges, completing the museum, etc. I felt the same way a couple months ago, but ever since I took a brief break I feel really good about playing again. I'd recommend it, especially if you have other towns that you can go to!

I take mini breaks from it now, I used to force myself to play everyday at one point but it just wasn't sustainable long term. So when I play now I do some time travel so I have more to do in one day, I'll change my villagers every so often to keep fresh faces in my town. I got my absolute favourite villagers in town which keeps me coming back to it as I do find I miss seeing them.
I've been working on my badges lately and I managed to complete my museum. My next goal is to get a full catalogue on everything, so that will give me something to aim for.

I find redoing my hybrids and layout also keeps me busy. It's a big job to keep doing it all the while but every now and then I'll start breeding loads of particular flowers and change my paths/removed and replace PWP's

It's like ChillyKio says, take a break! I took a break from januray to april/may this year, and now I've been playing almost every day since. :)

I'm a completionist so acnl should keep me busy for... the rest of my life :p
I bought a guide a few years ago with checklists of almost every item/achievement you can get in-game so I always have something to do!

You can try and change the theme, alter flowers/paths, demolish / start new PWPs, etc. It's like resetting without actually resetting.

Try rearranging your pwps and changing your landscaping :3 You can also redecorate your house(s), make another character, visit club tortimer or decorate your museum rooms.

Thanks to all the suggestions that I take a break! I think on the next day that I cancel a villagers request to move out, I'll stop playing for a few weeks on that game after that, to give myself some perspective.

I find trying to get that revered 1.1 million score for Happy Home Academy to be a worthy goal to get. Fill your badge list with golds, try to get everyone's pic, etc.

I stopped playing for about 6 months. It was a good break. The update announcement actually brought me back. Now I'm working to perfecting my town again. Stripped it and I'm revamping it.

ACNL is the first game I've played in this series and Eden is my first town. Despite the fact I don't play near as much as I did I would not consider resetting my lovey urban town. When I feel the need to try something different I use one of my other towns for that.

Though this has been mentioned many times over, have you collected ALL furniture, clothing, completed your museum, badges, upgrade your house along with any characters you created and furnish them. As I've mentioned above, I don't play near as much as I did I check in when the mood strikes me and for now I'm okay with that!

I usually try to do stuff like fill up my museum, fill my catalouge, get all the badges etc

I would just like to add a friendly reminder that if you're going to leave for a long period of time, remember to write down the date on a piece of paper and keep it tucked away in the game box with the cartridge (or in a notebook if its digital), that way you remember to TT back to that date. Otherwise you risk losing a villager, and no one wants that.
