So my first town, Avian, is pretty much finished. I've unlocked everything, gotten all my dream villagers (or as many as I can fit) and finished my town's paths and stuff.

And now, I'm really bored of it.

I got a second copy of new leaf so I could make another town, thinking I'd still utilize Avian. But now, I find myself only ever playing on my second town and pretty much abandoning my first one. I don't want it to completely deteriorate (have my villagers move out, get run over with weeds, etc.) but I have no motivation to keep playing on it.

What should I do? What do you do once you finish a town?

When I got my second and third towns, I used my first as the catalogue resource town. Because of how developed it was, I was able to get nearly every single item my other towns needed.

Because the shops weren't developed, I went over and bought saplings and starts, I ordered furniture from the catalogue that I needed to decorate a house, order clothes, did my hair, talk to the villagers so if they ever did leave, they would go in one of my other towns, went to Nooks home to triple my chances of getting an exteeior I needed, ect...

Keep it a functional town but don't think about it for a while. Then later, you may get a spark of inspiration to do something new.

Ways I keep my towns interesting are my paths and flowers. I change them for season/holidays. Like my paths get lighter for snow, darker for non-snow months. And for halloween I decorated with purple, black and orange flowers, for general fall I did yellow and orange and for snow it's pale purples and whites. In spring I plan on pinks and the like.

I second Stella's idea of using your first town as a catalogue system for your second town. I have 5 copies of ACNL, and I run into similar issues of abandoning towns once I start a new one. I get a bit obsessed with the town that I am currently "working on" and it leads me to having a habit of abandoning lol. One tip I would recommend: write down the last date that you played (where all of your villagers were still in town, etc), and when you decide to eventually go back to your 1st town, set the date to that day you played (or the day after), so that you make sure that all of your villagers are still there! That way you don't have to worry about any of them leaving.
I tend to have a habit of setting my towns in certain seasons (Lilypad is Fall, Glow is Spring, Nutmeg is Winter, etc). I want to finish a town in each season, and then during those seasons in real life I can play that certain town, and move on when the seasons change. It's a bit like playing AC regularly, but switching towns for each one haha.

Wow really surprised you have finished everything.
You have collected all bugs, fish, undersea creatures?
You have gotten all badges?
You have customized all houses?
You have finished the museum?
You have customized the second floor of museum?
Have you unlocked all buildings?
Have you customized your villagers houses?
Have you finished your whole catalog?
Have you gotten perfect town status?
Have you placed all pwp accepted?

I feel like I need to complete all this before I feel like my town is complete

Wait... that's such a cute idea~!!

Working on badges may keep you occupied. Same with visiting developed Dream Suite towns, playing the island mini-games, etc.

^ This. Makes me giggle.

I don't think I've ever been 100% complete with a town, so it's hard to say. Maybe once I do, I may take a break from it and go to my second. Then back to the first to update it lol.
