Normally I prefer 3, but if I want to save energy I change to 1.

Most of the time I have it on 3, although I turn it up to 4 at night because the game gets so dark. I've never compared it side-by-side, but it seems nighttime in New Leaf is darker than nighttime in City Folk.

I play with my brightness at 5 for every game. The lower settings just seem too dark.

I used to play with 1 and then I switched to 4. It's a million times better, but my sister likes dark screens. I can't stand them. :P

I always play with power saving mode + 1 brightness, just like vexnir and Burumun. I've never actually tried using a different setting. It's never really been a problem, although if I'm trying to play while in a car during the day, it can be pretty much impossible to see the screen. LOL But whatever.

Typically, I play in my room (either with the headlight on or off), and it looks fine. I always have my laptop on the lowest brightness too, if possible. My eyes are kinda sensitive, and I use electronics a lot. XD;

I'm surprised that so many people can handle low brightness. I always play on 5 without power saving mode, unless I'm going for a long ride, where I play on 1 with power saving on.

Unless I'm dealing with glare from the sun or some other source of light, I always play at a brightness of 1 with the power saving mode on. I do that with all my electronics though (TV, laptop, phone), so I guess I'm just used to it.

I think I am weird - I play on 1 and power saving mode almost all the time and all games. I only switch to lighter brightness if I am in an environment that makes the darker screen harder to see.

Everytime my cousin picks my 3DS to play instead of his, he asks me how the heck can I play on such a dark screen. But any higher brightness is usually unpleasant to my eyes.

Same for me ^^

I usually play on 4 and power saving mode in the day.

But if I'm playing in bed before I go to sleep and the lights are off, I switch to 1. Otherwise the bright screen hurts my eyes.
