Hi! Sorry for the recent abundance of threads from me, but this is a pretty important question (at least, I think).
So, I want to create a blog for my future town(s), and I have it all in mind, but what are some good websites to use? My parents don't want me to get anything unless I can prove to them it's safe. I want to use Tumblr most of all since it seems the most creative, but is it safe, especially for a young teen? Those of you with Tumblr blogs, I would love to hear some good proof! It seems really awesome but I don't want my parents to get upset if they find out about anything bad.
Another site I found out about is www.blogspot.com, but it's definitely not as creative as Tumblr to me, since you can't really change the background much. (Unless I mixed it up with another website!) But if anyone could state some good reasons as to why it's good or not, I would greatly appreciate it. :)
Those are really the only good sites I have in mind, but any other recommendations would be awesome! A good Blog is pretty important to me so I may give a reward...we'll see! c: *Hint: TBT Bells for the best answer*
Thanks so much, guys! <3

"Safe"... What do your parents mean exactly? Privacy-wise, everything is safe, it's all up to you what you publish after all. Exposure-wise, nothing is safe, because you can never control what other people put up online. I'm not sure what "safe" means...

Tumblr is definitely the top blogging network for media-based blogging. As long as you're not focusing on text, it's the place for you and definitely the easiest way to get exposure. Tumblr is an "everything-website", so while there are loads of cute drawings there are also loads of porn, the point being you have to actively try to find it to see it.

If you're thinking safety regarding your computer and malware/viruses, tumblr is in most cases safe. There are millions of users and they're the ones eventually putting up malware, but you'd have to be pretty dumb to download anything without knowing from a blog!
I hope you're able to make an awesome blog and that you'll give us the link <3

tumblr is good because of "reblogs" and the large fanbase so if you do "quality" posts it's easier to get readers.

About "safety", tumblr does contain "explict/adult/NSFW content"... if you search for it and maybe sometimes even if you don't search for it, but really if you don't search for it it's "safe", yes.

Tumblr is pretty safe as long as you don't follow any blogs that have nsfw posts. If you're going to be an all Animal Crossing blog, you'll most likely only follow A.C. tumblrs, meaning there is little to no worrying about unsafe posts.

You can check mine out, but it's not an Animal Crossing blog. I just wanted to have it up as an example.

Tumblr is good for short, quick posts -- like a screenshot and a caption, or a photo-set. Anything long is usually hidden under a "Read More" link.
If you want to write longer, journal-esque posts, WordPress and Blogspot lend themselves better for that, I think. But you could of course also do posts like this on Tumblr... just under a "Read More"

I have a WordPress and a Tumblr. I personally prefer my WordPress because it suits the way I like to post about my town, and it feels more like a tight community with the people there. I've known some of the people there for over 2 years; they comment on my posts and I comment on theirs, and we WiFi with each other often. On Tumblr, even though the community there is much larger, it's also lonelier because it's mostly just a lot of 'liking' and 'reblogging.' Maybe that's just my experience, though :P

Oh, and as for safety, Tumblr does potentially have some things that could be problematic, like people can send mean anonymous asks. You can always turn off anon though. You'd have to go looking for unsafe things, for the most part, and are unlikely to find them in the Animal Crossing circle on Tumblr. Using Tumblr Savior to block certain topics, like 'nsfw' is also an option.

as a tumblr user myself, i see it as being pretty safe. there are add-ons you can put on your browser such as tumblr savior which will blacklist posts tagged with something that you dont want to see on your dash.
most ACNL blogs dont have any nsfw posts, its usually the normal blogs that could or do.
from what i see, the acnl community is great on tumblr! im not a huge part in it but hey, sometimes i find myself going down the tag.
people tend to made a photoset about their day and add captains going into details about the event with a short blurp for the description.
virus wise, tumblrs only unsafe if you click a shady link. users usually detect this early on though and spread a post around like wildfire.

Okay, thanks for the replies!
@Bon: By "safe", I guess I mean something that wouldn't show inappropriate images when you first join it. What I mainly meant though, was if you had to search for something in order for something inappropriate to pop up, and that's been answered for the most part.^^
I'll check out Wordpress too! I'll check out everyone's blogs, and as soon as I get mine I'll post the link in my sig!^^ Thanks for the great replies! c:

tumblr

everyone else pretty much summed it up above me
(and yeah get tumblr savior and blacklist nsfw)
generally people will have a warning that they'll post nsfw
also if youre afraid of getting nasty messages, if you turn on your ask dont turn on anon
and dont steal posts or people will be really pissed off at you. just reblog.

ALSO if someone you follow makes a personal post under a readmore do NOT REBLOG it i dont care if you can relate to them reblogging a read more is considered really rude. dont do it.

also if you post any artwork at all always source it! (unless its your own then fine) but if you pulled an image from like pixiv or deviantart always source it back.
i think thats all

wordpress is ok i guess but i dont think people will really talk to you there. not imo anyway. ive had many people talk to me and reply to my posts on tumblr also install xkit because it makes tumblr 1000 times better. just trust me. tumblr is broken without xkit

and dont use the crappy tumblr themes (unless you use the classic redux theme) okay no one likes those. no one. for a good theme check out this blog
