So many posts on Tumblr have screenshots of fairy circles in dream addresses or their own town.

They are circles made up of various types of mushrooms.

Where are they from? Are fairy circles a thing? Am I missing something?

Here is a picture of one: http://imgur.com/IJRyVFi.png

I'm guessing it's where you plant a tree, chop it down with a silver axe, and then wait for a circle of mushrooms to form? I've never heard of that before.

So back in ye olden times of Europe, when people would see mushrooms in a circle (they grow that way sometimes), or whatever else, they would assume a fairy, or witch or some supernatural event caused it. They're usually thought to be enchanted and such - sometimes a place of good fortune, sometimes an evil place. Depends on the folklore.

^ yup.
Fairy circles are a weird thing irl, i get them almost every time its summer (I'm from Florida) and they're in everyone's yards. Supposedly you're not supposed to step in them either.

That's interesting. I didn't know that, either. Nice little history lesson.

huh i didnt think such thing existed in ACNL

sounds like more of a Minecraft thing

then again i never chop down trees

well you could just place the mushrooms there yourself that you gathered during mushroom season in the game or that you even bought from people on the forums, i'm sure that's how they did it.
