What Am I Doing Wrong?

These bushes and bamboo keep dying in these exact same spots and can't figure out why.

I can't tell what else is around, but I know that bushes can't be placed at more than 12(?) consecutive bushes in a single line, so maybe you have too many lined up? There's also weird 'rules' about how many bushes/trees can be in a given area, but I'm not sure what the limit is, and also some towns just have dead spots. I tried forever to put a bush in front of my mayor's house but it wouldn't take for no discernible reason and I was advised by others it could just be a 'dead spot'.

the one on the left died because the bamboo's shadow doesn't allow the bush or tree to get any sunlight so it dies, i also hear that you can't have bushes grow next things that aren't bushes

Thanks for the feedback. I only have 12 bushes planted in that area (2 of which died) so I don't know if I exceeded the limit or not. Bleh, I really hope those aren't dead spots. My biggest mystery is why the bamboo won't grow like the other one did in the front.

I'm confused about that because all the other bushes grew next to the bamboo just fine except for two.

Maybe you should cut down the bamboo and start replanting the bamboo and bushes in a line, one at a time each day.
Because I heard if you have two trees/bamboo/bushes with a gap and try to plant something there, it may die.
Also if you plant them all at once some may die.
And I think you can have only so many plants in a 5x5 or 7x7 area? I dunno.

So I rearranged the setup with a few plants that died still, but I decided to go with the feedback here and try removing some bushes and it worked! Thank you guys again for the help.
