Man, I'm sorry. That's an AWFUL price to pay for that one item, regardless of demand. I bought one from someone here for reasonably cheap and recently sold it for the same price just to recover the cost. 250 TBT though... I wonder if that person feels guilty now, or anyone who sold them for a high price.

Most ACNL items drop in value over time as more people obtain them and more people hack / dupe items. The White Festive Tree was so high in demand because it's new and it's close to Christmas. By next Christmas, people will have had a whole year to get them and there will be a lot more of them out there. No one will be paying 100 TBT for one next year, especially now with the North American release of the item.

I don't know why so many people are suggesting the person who started the thread should ask for / get a refund. Yes, 250 TBT is way too much to pay for the item even if it is really rare, but if you agree to pay that much for it and receive your item, then a deal's a deal. No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to accept an offer. Like with anything in real life, if you are really impatient and want to get something new right away, you're going to overpay for it. For example, that's why I didn't buy a Wii U (the real life one) right away and ultimately never did because it turned out to mostly be a flop after a few months.

That being said, I know that there are people here who try to exploit newer members who don't know how much stuff is worth. While it's not against the rules, it is kind of an ******* thing to do. I once tried to create a valuation thread for in-game items, but it died pretty quickly. I think it would be nice to have members / resources which help newer members get to know the TBT market a little better before they blow all their TBT overpaying for stuff.
