Weirdness With Villager Reset - Suggestions?

I had to restart and at the time my town was at 6 villagers and I reset over and over on the 7th villager - the last one to move in. It went off without any issues, each reset there was someone moving in and although the villager and the plot reset (not an amiibo scan), there was always someone moving in.

When it went to the next day I started the villager reset trick again, I figured someone would try to move in and I was right. There was a new plot for an 8th villager. I reset as it was a personality type I already had in my town. I like to have one of each for PWP purposes. There was another villager with a different plot, but the same personality issue. When I reset the 3rd time, there was no new plot.

I thought that was weird as I hadn't had the issue at all previously. I actually went back to the previous day, loaded in and saved and then went forward to the day I was on. It again gave me a new plot, but when I tried the trick with a new character, it wasn't a villager I wanted to keep so I reset. Loading up again - no villager plot.

I then reloaded again, saw on the title screen that there was a plot beside a specific villager. I went through the whole new file thing and when I got into town, there was no plot beside this villager. No plot in the entire town.

I don't want to load up my mayor and be stuck with someone I don't want. After so much success with the trick the other day, I don't understand my issues now.

I've googled and tried to look into it as much as I can but most of what I find is regarding scanned in amiibo card villagers and trying to make them not be in the same spot every reset, which is not my issue.

Has anyone else had issues like this and if so what did you do? It's not mentioned in any of the reset trick guides, so I'm at a loss.

Could it be that it's not the 8th villager but the 9th?
The 9th takes some days to move in, and even with the reset trick it mught come and disappera multiple times in the same day

Hey, I was recently watching a YouTube Lets play of ACNL and a similar thing happened to that person.
One of her villagers moved out, she got one but she didn't like where their house was placed so she ft'ed several times.
After a couple times, no villager set up a plot.
I'm not really sure why, but similar things have happened to other people, not the same what I know of, but similar

Interesting, thanks for the responses. It's definitely the 8th villager that's moving in, I'm keeping a log of the villagers in my town with personality type and animal type for variety sake.

I guess it's just a thing that happens sometimes, I just don't want to load in my mayor and be stuck with someone in a weird spot or a villager I'll end up wanting to be rid of, lol. We'll see what happens!
