Hi all, if a weather forecasting tool is helpful to anyone (so far it's been helpful to some people in identifying weather patterns for catching certain fish, bugs, figuring out if celeste might show up, or knowing when it's gonna rain so that you can be lazy and not water your crops), then I hope this tool I just published live helps!

All you have to do is try to provide a little bit of weather data that you know for any 1 hour time periods during your day and the tool predicts what you might get next (or what you will exactly get next).

Celeste is known to appear in 4 possible weather patterns only (once a week, if she hasn't appeared already). Here are those patterns:

Let me know if you find this helpful (or have screenshots to help figure out the minute differences between clear/sunny/overcast..etc. We're building screenshots for them so we can help players identify them even more easily).

Hey!

I tried it today and I have the problem that it constantly cancels out things that.. I guess shouldn't be possible? At 10AM I had clear skies, at 11AM it was sunny so the only option it gives me for 12PM is clear skies even though it for me it's overcast..

Hey thanks for trying it out! The data miner identified a problem with the timeslots in the initial data they collected; that has since been corrected. It should be correct now!.

Also just to be clear re: sunny, that can still have clouds (but overcast just has more).

This is awesome! Looking forward to the screenshots - I'm a little unsure of what I should consider sunny with some clouds and overcast.

That's a really interesting tool, and it'll certainly make knowing when to camp out for shooting stars easier. Thank you for making and sharing it!

One question I have is how can we tell the difference between 'sunny' and 'clear skies' at night?

Excellent idea, though I think there should be some explanation for what each of the weather indicators mean at the top.

What’s the difference between sunny and clear skies in general? Does a few clouds in the sky indicate clear skies or sunny? I assume that’s not considered “overcast”.

There's a little more info in the dialog that pops up if you click the little info icon but basically these are the game guide's descriptions:

Weather Types
  1. Clear Skies: Clear sky without a hint of clouds (also known as Fine in the companion guide).
  2. Sunny: Clear sky with a few clouds
  3. Overcast: Lots of clouds but still pleasant
  4. Rain Clouds: Lots of clouds, gloomy atmosphere; only occurs before or after rain.
  5. Rain: Light rainfall (snowfall in Winter)
  6. Heavy Rain: Heavy rainfall (snowfall in Winter)
so clear skies basically has no clouds (or like a super tiny wisp of a cloud possibly)

sunny basically means slightly cloudy (but we have seen some pictures where it's fairly cloudy and can be easily confused with overcast).

Overcast is really a lot of clouds/lot of cloud coverage and big sizes in the sky while the sky still is generally pleasant.

I might condense sunny and overcast into just "Cloudy" soon, as an optional setting. It'll make it slightly harder to pin down an accurate weather forecast for ones with clouds but it might help alleviate confusion imo
