New Leaf was a central part of my early adolescence. I didn't really have any friends, so I played New Leaf. I loved it. I wasn't great at the game, but I had so much fun. I enjoyed watching my town prosper. I started a new town back last year, but I haven't really played it all too much. I can't remember the last time I've played it. I'd really like to get back into it, but I'm unsure how to. I'm going to college this fall, but I'll try to get into Animal Crossing New Leaf.

It is worth it for sure!!
There isn’t online play on the 3ds or WiiU anymore though so features like Dream Addresses or visiting other towns isn’t possible.

It’s 100% worth it. I love New Leaf, more so than NH because I can’t actually catch bugs and fish in peace without having to get a new net or rod every 5 seconds.

(Plus, I don’t know if we can talk about this, but if you have a dodgy 3ds, Pretendo are working towards restoring the online functions of NL🤫)

i think new leaf would be a great way to unwind in college, lol it's what i did! i'm having a blast replaying the game after a few years of only playing new horizons.

I'm trying to return back to my towns as well! I know the struggle. And it's a little different to the newest game so, you kinda feel kinda stuck.
I would say, try and play a little each day, not for too long, just to allow yourself to immerse into the game again. Do little things each day like collecting daily fossils. Get back in the way you catch bugs and fish.
If you have Brewster's cafe, go in and try and make some coffee for villagers. Play some Island games~
Talk a little to the villagers to get a feel at how they used to speak back then. Try not to overstress over things you don't have control over in the game as you're just getting back into it. And getting fustrated over someone suddenly moving or ruining something will do the oppisite.

I hope college goes well~ and this game is definitely something that can release any stress from the day!

A bit of an update:
College has been fun, but I've played New Leaf twice. I don't really have the time (or desire) to keep up a town. I feel sad. I want to be into New Leaf, but everytime I play it, I feel a sense of melancholy. I guess it's because I played it at a time where I was lonely, and it was an escape from the world.
I left my 3DS at home this semester because I don't use it much. I'm gonna try to move on. New Leaf is fun to play every once in a while; playing consistently multiple days a week is something that simply won't happen. I'm already playing a few video games right now, and New Leaf isn't one of them. I will always love it, but it cannot hold space in my heart anymore.
Re-reading my post is making me cringe XD. I promise I'm not that sad. I just think I should let go. I doubt that I'll leave the forum, and I'll probably play the Switch 2 AC if it comes out, though.

I got home about a week ago, and I've been busier during the days, so I've been playing at night. I've actually had a lot of fun doing it! So far, no villagers have left my town, which is shocking to me! I've been having a lot of fun with it. I'll definitely keep playing it this summer, but when August comes, I probably won't play as much. I take back what I said earlier; I will not let go of New Leaf. I might stop playing for a while, but I won't delete my town.
