Know any good MMOs that:

- Have good character customization. Perferably from the get-go.
- Are well populated.
- Free to play.

Have you tried Neverwinter? It's a lot of fun and done very well in my opinion, plus it's based on D&D so that gives it bonus cool points. It doesn't have a ton of character customization as far as appearance goes, but there are plenty of character classes to choose from and that changes both the look of your character and has a drastic impact on how you'll play and experience the game. I've been playing it on and off with friends for a few weeks now, and that says a lot considering I've never been big on MMOs in the past. Definitely try it out if you haven't!

It might seem odd to say this but I'm having a lot of fun with Phantasy Star Online 2. For the record, I'm playing the English-patched Japanese version. The amount of customization at character creation is robust and there's so much more once you start playing. It may take awhile to get everything set up but it will be worth it. Ship 2 is where the English-speaking community plays and there are always people online so the lobby is never empty.

You can find plenty of helpful tutorials to set up a Japanese Sega Account and installing the English patch.

agar.io great customization, many people online all the time, sometimes a friendly community when you're the biggest and feed the smaller... eat or get eaten though...

I'll second this. My boyfriend plays it on Xbox One, and I played on his a little. He seems to like it more than WoW.

PC players are probably nicer than Xbox players, too, from what I've heard.

It's a bit old and I don't even know if its cool anymore, but I used to always play AdventureQuest Worlds as a kid... eheheheh
*buries face in cushion in shame*

I still check on my gal now and then.. :p

It's very anime-comic ish in its style and it has a lot of clothes and hats and classes but somewhat too freemium

Yeah, I get what you mean. But it's great for Nostalgia. Ahaha~

Star wars the old republic is pretty good RN they're coming out with a new xpac with good storytelling in October population is pretty good leveling is fast rn with a 12xp boost so yeah storytelling in the game is great overall n the wait nvm its sub lol

Recently I got into playing Blade and Soul and it's pretty good! There's quite a lot to do in character customization and there's no genderlock in most classes/races (Kun is an exception) that you can choose from. The NA/EU release is coming this winter so you can wait until then, or play straight away by joining in the Russian server with the English patch. The downside of the latter is that although the translation is almost complete (roughly around 90% iirc) it's a bit dodgy. Unless you can understand Korean/Japanese fluently when the NPCs are talking you might struggle a little. There's plenty of English-speaking players however that can help you out so the experience isn't too bad.

TERA is another MMO that people enjoy and again, lots to do in their character customization.

Most of the MMOs are free to play (ex: swtor, blade and soul) but have a sub model which is wayyy less restrictive in terms of gameplay, i mean you can still play the whole game being f2p but only some restrictions

imo there are pretty much no f2p mmo's that offer enough being f2p

recently i've played swtor, archeage, and lotro

archeage is insanely good but once you hit the level cap you pretty much need to start paying for the game, but everything in the game is pretty unrestricted

swtor is quite good because the whole story is free and the game itself looks nice and feels nice and its cool because starwars, but I find that it's harder to enjoy if you dont spend a little bit of money on it

lotro is amazing but its just quite dated in terms of graphics, the f2p model is really really good, and you can collect turbine points by doing things in game to be able to afford quest packs etc. The community is super nice and amazing, but the games population is dwindling simply because it's older

May I recommend TERA? The download size is rather huge, but it makes up for it with free movement and a variety of classes and things to do. Although in my opinion, outfits and stuff for characters are a bit more limited than say a game like Eden Eternal. xD
