Villagers wearing New Year's hats

Were villagers wearing these hats during the countdown last year?

Animal Crossing: New Leaf was my first game of the franchise; I got it during Christmas last year. That said, I remember playing the game for the New Year's countdown last year, but do not remember if villagers were wearing these hats. Anyone here have a better memory?

Also, I am guessing these cannot be bought? I mean, Redd is selling two hats (one red, one yellow), but they are different. Hope I am not missing anything.

I don't think they were last year (at least I don't recall they were).. but I know I thought it was the cutest thing! they were all awake too and clapping at the fireworks and just walking around the countdown area with all their little hats on too (＾▽＾)/


and yeah I don't think these adorable little hats are buyable but the ones for sale by redd seem similar, hehe!​

To answer your question, yes, the villagers were wearing hats during the countdown last year, it is not a new feature. And to answer the question you didn't ask, yes, they are adorable.

I definitely remember them having hats. I really wanted a blue one that's why I remember lol! Redd sold me a green and yellow one last year and I figured that there should be a blue and red since villagers were wearing yellow and blue and so I brought some from friends towns and let them come over and buy my colors. Too bad the tiny ones can't be brought, they look super cute, but the yellow New Years and blue New Years hats are very similar to the tiny ones the villagers wear.

They were so adorable! I loved their enthusiastic clapping as they watched the fireworks. I really liked seeing them walk over to the plaza, too! Just one of those things that brings you closer to your villagers.

I don't think I played last NYE, so this year was fun for me. The hats were so adorable, especially on Peewee! xD

I think you didn't see them wearing hats because you're supposed to talk to them and they'll be like "oh you're wearing a hat let me wear one too".

I didn't go to the countdown last year so I'm not sure what it was like but this year they had their animal party hats. It was so cute!! >w<

Yes, all my 10 (exact same ones I had last year too) were also wearing hats. They do on the final hour after you wear yours, and talk to them.

I liked their cute little hats better than the ones for sale. I traveled to some other towns and bought all of the hats, though.
