Animal Crossing has always been a game that needs your constant attention - weeds, flowers dying, villagers missing you...
However, once my villagers start moving away when I get bored of the game, it just stops me from playing even more. Why would I want to pick the game up again after two of my favourite villagers have just vanished?

In the next game, Nintendo should make it so that villagers can't just vanish when you don't play. I can understand if the villagers ask you if they can move so that you can provent them but I'm attatched to some animals and I don't want them to suddenly dissapear.

Especially with the focus on dreamies and asking villagers to move in.

I think they should let you know they're moving.. But then also have the same system from WW.. With some pushing, you can get them to stay if you keep speaking..

That way you have a bit of a safety net if they're in boxes..

Obviously you can't stop someone from just automatically voiding from no activity.. So yeah, I do agree

It'd also be cool if you could lock in some villagers.. Maybe 5, so that they never ever leave

I agree, having villagers move out unexpectedly is upsetting.
It's possible the reason that villagers can just randomly move out is to keep you playing regularly. I know it keeps me playing regularly.

If you know you won't play for a few days, talk to your villagers a lot and find out if anyone is moving soon. If you can't find any hint of someone moving out you should be safe. Villagers cannot decide to move unless they decided before the last time you played.

I feel the exact same, hence why towns usually only last a few months for me, since i lose interest in my town when good ones move away etc, i dont have the time to play everyday when i'm doing a levels!! :(

Im a cycler. I never get bored or too attached to a villager. It's more fun, IMO.

I hear you dude, this game has gotten boring for me really fast. In fact I think im gonna make a thread regarding that right now...

What they should do is add a best freind feature that allows you to visit them or even send mail to them after they have moved away.

If you stop someone from moving and then stop playing right after that, no one will move no matter how many days you don't play. Js.

Use that to your advantage.

Well, if you time travel you can always make a note of the date you last played and then catch up to the current date. I know this wouldn't work for everyone though. :)

After not playing for months, I went into my town and saw 2 villagers moved out, though.

Also, the TT idea is great and if I ever get back into the game I'll do that, but I think I shouldn't have to go through the hassle when all I want is to keep my villagers intact.

Its unfortunately completely random when or if you are informed. I've spoken to my villagers often, sometimes they say "oh, NAME is moving" on my second or third try, sometimes around 20 attempts, sometimes never.
