Villagers Houses: what are our options?

Considering the heavy focus on customization, what freedoms do you think we?ll have when it comes to the Animals houses?

It seems likely enough that we?ll be able to move them even later on, but will we be able to customize the exteriors as well?

While I like the idea of each villager having a unique house design connected to them, I care enough about the aesthetics of my towns that being able to alter the outside to fit in better with my landscaping/theme would be amazing!
(I?m always a bit disappointed when a villager I love has a really modern exterior, since that clashes with the natural look I?m going for?I?d be thrilled to have Hans living in a log cabin instead, for example)

I don't think we'll have much control over our villager's homes outside of placement and their surroundings. I imagine they'll swap out interior items when given them like they did in New Leaf, though.

They've shown us the same house twice and both times were in winter, but the door decoration was different (well, maybe it's a different hemisphere?):

Well, looks like the curtains are also different. I really hope we get more options, even if we have to unlock them by gaining more friendship points with them.

I definitely expect the interiors to change again over time. It?d be nice if we could help prevent houses turning into a complete mess this time around. I don?t even want full control; just maybe an increased likelihood of them displaying what you give them, or not throwing everything out for critters lol

I hope either certain villager houses have improved, or we can customize them. Especially if you have a themed island.

Some of the best villagers have the worst exteriors, like Kyle for example.

It's the reason I reject certain villagers, because of their house exteriors. (Sorry, Rasher, old pal.)

I'm all about the aesthetics, so I hope we have some input.

The interior wall and floors should be changeable too, as they were in Wild World.

I personally wouldn't use the feature much if it exists, just because I would like my villagers to continue showing their own style but if it does make it into the game then it would be great for those who would make heavy use of it. I can understand wanting to customize every aspect of the island, and it would be amazing for those very creative people who make themed towns. (Especially the creepy horror ones!)

I wonder if door decorations and such will be placed up autonomously by the villagers depending on the season/event going on? I think that would be cute. :3

Also, I just re-gifted items villagers would give me from their homes, LOL. It seemed to help with keeping their homes from becoming total messes. I swear, half my storage was full of items to re-gift to villagers.

Yeah I’m similar in that respect. I’ll deal with some jarring features and try to work around them, but if it clashes badly I’ll probably choose a different villager.

I don’t think I’d make heavy use of it per se, because I do agree that it’s nice to retain the villagers individual style, so to speak. Minor tweaks here and there would be great for me though, especially now that we can add decorations around the outside.

There is also a challenge and beauty in making do and working with/around what you have, so I guess I’ll be content either way ^^

It would be pretty nice to be able to customize our villagers houses, but sometimes it's nice when villagers choose their own, because you know, it's their own style, but I understand why most people would want to change their villager's house design. I personally have never done a theme before, but seeing how others do it, then having a feature to change their house's style or color would make more islands even more pretty, or stylish, or unique.

I do understand your concern though and will agree with you, as I love natural things too and seeing a house that doesn't match up with the natural theme can make it look a bit awkward.

I would love if after a certain friendship level they would randomly ask you for a house makeover. I'm constantly getting the same furniture for my villagers and just customizing it with Cyrus to get them better matching furniture for their house.

i was kind of hoping we'd get the ability to unlock more happy home designer levels of customization or something at least similar to it in this installment of animal crossing but it looks like that might not be the case. i like the idea of hitting a certain friendship level and then giving a little home makeover, even if it's just the exterior.

regardless i'll definitely be making yards and gardens and lawns and doing other kinds of landscaping for my animal buddies whether they want it or not.

Exactly that.

I’m not sure we know exactly how, but they’ll likely become houses in relation to the player upgrading their own tent. That’s my guess at least.

The exterior would be interesting if we get to change that, but I wonder how the interior works too. I'd love to almost see something ala Happy Home Designer where they ask help for designs, instead of randomly placing new furniture they get in places that make no sense. I don't expect to get that much freedom, but it'd be neat if we did.

I don't think we'll be able to do much tbh, maybe they'll let us change the wreaths or something.

So far from what I've seen they look lovely!
I think it'll be like in NL when they asked for things but when they trust you more, they'll ask you to help design and place things in their houses and outside! Don't forget we have to get permits now so if we have a creative designer permit too, then they'll require our services, will they not? ˁ̡̡̡∗︎◠︎ ̫ ◠︎艸｡+ﾟ:+ﾟ
