Villager's birthdays!

My first villager birthday is coming up (Simon's), and I was wondering what have you guys gotten/plan to get for your own villager's birthdays! I haven't gotten a gift for Simon, but I thought that it would be interesting to see what you guys have gotten for your villagers.

What I do is I get the guide on thonky

Whenever I give them a gift that they like according to Thonky, they are ecstatic
Its usually pretty easy to guess what kind of items they like do to their fur color

^ that. Marcel was my most recent villager birthday, I got him a deer scare and he was overjoyed.
As soon as I get the letter about the birthday party I look up the villager's tastes and order them something appropriate from the catalog.

I just wait till the last second...and end up getting them whatever i have laying around...lol
