Villager Toy Day requests question

So I have a list of what almost all of my villagers would really like for Toy Day but did not participate in last years hence my question:

Are you tasked to buy/gather these requests beforehand and mail/deliver on/for Toy Day or is it just necessary to know the request of each villager and then on the day you have options as what to deliver via Mr Jingle?

Jingle will give you the item you have to know what your villager want color/thing and on toy day find jingle with a complete Santa suit and you have to do jingle job and if you get it all correct you get an item from jingle and the picture the next day

My villagers are giving me different suggestions. Like Marshal said he wanted something yellow, and then a few days later he said he wanted an umbrella, does it mean he wants a yellow umbrella? That's very specific!!!

Yes it's a yellow umbrella. There is a list on Gamefaqs under FAQS done by Liquefy.
List is very helpful.
