Villager Resetting Tips

I've been plot resetting using a second 3DS to get my villagers moving in where I want them in my new town.
So, a few things I'd wish I'd known before starting:

1) Do a couple trial runs with any old villager just to get an idea of where you might need to place more pwp's.
2) Leave a sizeable space to 'save' your temporary house (the new character house you use for resetting).
3) Leave a spade beside retail. This is in case a rock appears in your temporary house space - see 2.

What i have been doing while i try to get my villagers in, is i have built a few park clocks in places i don't want any villagers. When i reset there will often be one or two places they build the houses on almost every reset, which is annoying so i build park clocks (or any cheap demolishable pwp) in those spots to speed it up, then when i get my villagers i can get rid of them.
