Villager Photo Discussion! Tips & Tricks?

Hi everyone,

I haven't seen many threads discussing Villager Photos yet. To note, these aren't posters that you can get from Harvey's Island. These are framed photos obtained from becoming best/true friends (blood, sweat and tears) by giving gifts, completing various tasks and talking to them on a regular basis.

• Have you obtained a villager photo yet?
• How long did it take you?
• Any tips & tricks to share?
• Which framed photo do you want the most?

I've obtained my first one from Katt and eager to get more but found that talking to them too much gets them annoyed and restarts the whole process. Does time-travelling have an impact?

I got Teddy's photo and I'm a huge TTer. He's one of my starting villagers! It was shortly after I had gotten the final reaction from him that jocks can give, which means we were definitely best friends, and I gave him a shirt I thought would be his style. He immediately put it on and then gave me his photo and I can't wait to get more. Out of all the villagers currently on my island I want Punchy and Lily's most, Lily's because I love the background on hers and Punchy because of the same reason plus he's one of my faves! Someday I also really wanna get Static on my island and get his photo too.

Awww! I never knew reactions were correlated with personality type! Does make more sense now... I'm trying to find the perfect amount of times to talk to them/give gifts. Hope to get Filberts but I've managed to annoy him twice by accident

Yeah, it was found out when the guide came out and listed them! This is what goes with which personality:

Normal - Pleased, Fearful, Sadness, Glee, Daydreaming
Peppy - Happiness, Aggravation, Sleepy, Curiosity, Mischief
Snooty - Joy, Intense, Thought, Sighing, Amazed, Love
Uchi - Greetings, Laughter, Cold Chill, Apologetic, Disagreement, Confident
Lazy - Delight, Bashfulness, Sorrow, Mistaken, Shyness, Pride
Jock - Surprise, Encouraging, Sneezing, Distress, Shocked, Flourish
Cranky - Agreement, Worry, Sheepish-ness, Bewilderment, Inspiration
Smug - Smirking, Resignation, Heartbreaking, Dozing, Showmanship

So it's like the PWPs in NL, you need to at least temporarily have all personalities. The final one on the list isn't unlocked until you're best friends, so I'm trying to remember which villagers I've gotten them from and give them a lot of gifts! As for the perfect amount of gifts I honestly didn't keep track, but I believe I had given Teddy at least one doorplate, two interior items, and two shirts, and probably more than that that I can't recall atm, before I got his photo. I always forget to send my villagers letters but that should definitely help, and I think I've heard that wrapping gifts increases friendship more than an unwrapped gift? So I wrapped some, but not all, of Teddy's gifts before giving them to him.

They do! It's just like in NL--you press A in front of it when you have it placed and it tells you their birthday, zodiac sign, and favorite saying.

I got Norma's photo yesterday- no time travel.
She gave it to me when I gifted her a dress that she liked.
I try to gift my villagers once daily - either clothes or some item in my inventory I don't care for much but that I know won't ruin their interior aesthetic.

i got cube’s photo today after he asked me for a yellow butterfly,,, kinda bittersweet bc i was literally JUST gonna tt him out. he’s the last villager in my town that’s not a dreamie of mine, but i’ve loved having him.

(a side note: i have only ever used TT to move villagers out, so i haven’t really gotten any sort of advantage with pics from it)

I got Muffy’s pic (only one so far) by giving her a Coconut lmao. I don’t TT, but either way they seem super rare. She was also one of my starters so not sure if that mattered.

I haven't gotten any yet. I think Im going to start at least giving them fruit everyday and see if that is helpful. I wonder if letters have any impact. I know they were a huge factor in other games. I want all of my villagers pictures right now. Im not going to settle on dreams for a while because I want to experience different villagers and so I want to have a huge wall of pictures that tells the towns resident history.

No TT but I have four; Tammy and Peck, my starting villagers, as well as Kiki and Hornsby who were part of my first three move-ins. My goal from the start has been collecting photos so I've been talking to everyone about 5 times a day (and yes I occasionally got them to the point where they were annoyed, but they were only like that at low friendship), giving them lots of furniture/clothes or the occasional fruit/flower if I can't find something that suits them. I also wrote letters to three villagers per night with a fruit attached but gave that up after a month when I was sure I had everyone's friendship at max already. Every photo I've received so far has been in return of a gift, though they weren't particularly spectacular gifts like a Coelacanth, just little things I thought they'd like. Hope this helps!

Only gotten 1 villager photo so far and it was after just giving a coconut as a gift. You definitely don’t need their favorite items to get photos that’s for sure.
