Villager Permanently stop wearing outfit?

Hey guys, I’ve tried looking everywhere and cannot find the answer. I adopted a villager and come to find out it has an outfit that I find not appropriate for the poor guy to wear. I’ve talked to Isabelle and she gets him to his default clothing. But a few hours later and he’s wearing it again.

My question is, how do I permanently get him to stop wearing it!? Help! T-T

Is it a custom design or actual clothing items from the game?
I've heard rumors that you can only stop custom designs. :c

I hope there is an answer for you. I haven't found it yet personally.

Would maybe try giving them a bunch of clothes you like on them to reduce the chances of them wearing what you dislike.
