Good afternoon, fellow mayors of New Leaf. I have an important question to discuss to anyone who can help me solve this conundrum if possible. A few days ago, I wanted to start up my Animal Crossing since I haven't touched it since a year or so due to stuff. When I came back to it a few days ago, it mentioned about this "Welcome Amiibo" Update that required me to continue playing or else I would be unable to start up the app. When I updated it, I was surprised by how much was going on (The MEOW's, the CAT's, the Campgrounds, New content, all kinds of good stuff). After sprucing up my town for a few days and saving it correctly, I awaited the next day to play again to get some kind of sleep (Let's be honest, time flies when you're playing a game like this. And it's worth it). The next day however... Isabelle greeted me as such before we start. And for some reason... my data was unable to be read and was sent back to the beginning. Back at the title screen, my town was deserted filled with new faces I haven't yet encountered. When I press A it prompted me to delete apparently my "Corrupted" save file. I hit no, exit and try again. When I restarted, my town was there as if it never happened. The part that gets me about this particular title is that I can't create a back-up on the fly (1. That's irritating and is rather disappointing that you tell me I can't back-up something worth of 5+years of memories, friendship, and blood, sweat, and tears?). I looked everywhere for help until I come across something interesting that happened to this person's Physical Copy that had met the same exact disaster. Here's a quote from the person's topic from this link: https://en-americas-support.nintend...-game-data.-your-game-will-exit/comment/25664 Check the very first post. At the end she has apparently found a solution that leaves me both optimistic and skeptical but here it is:
"First, you'll have to purchase the retail version of Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo. When you start up the game (if there is no existing town already) it will have the option to import save data. Go through the steps, import the data, and you can now access your data again, on the new cartridge."
If anyone knows anyone who can confirm this *please* let me know. It's crazy that this just happens to people out of nowhere. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact I purchased New Leaf before they upgraded the software to as such it is now.
