Updating Multiple Towns

Does the update save to your 3DS or to the game cartridge?

I ask because I have multiple towns. Let's say I update Town 1 but don't want to update Town 2, and I play with both games on the same 3DS. Will I have to accept the update individually for each town, or does the update automatically apply to all game cartridges used by the same 3DS?

The update saves to the 3DS, so it will affect all the copies of your game both digital and physical. I know cause I just did the update and both my digital and physical copy were updated when I booted them up.

I thought it saves to the game card, since to update it you have to load up the game and select update data.

I think it saves to the 3ds system, therefore updating any cartridge? I updated my game with my cartridge game inserted and both my cartridge town and digital town were updated. I don't know if it still applies [to your cartridge] if you leave it out during the update though

I think they patched the net glitch where you can go out of bounds... Don't know if anything else is patched.

I thought it saves to the game card, since to update it you have to load up the game and select update data.

i think you have to go to the eshop and download it there.
and it saves into your sd card
