hey guys, was recently browsing the Nook's Cranny board for inspiration on the other shops here. Admittedly, my own shop hasn't been doing too well, and I was upset because I assumed my prices were fair. I wanted to see what others were doing that I was doing wrong. It was then I discovered a somewhat disturbing trend.
A large amount of shops that frequently hit the front page are selling duplicated/hacked items, to varyingly blatant degrees. I don't want to call anyone in particular out, but there are some absurd deals that undercut my prices significantly because, frankly, the items they have weren't obtained legitimately. some examples taken from multiple different shops:
-5 TBT for a stack of pearls
1 TBT for a stack of star fragments/wood
-5 TBT for legitimate artwork
I was curious as to how people were affording to sell their items for so cheap, so I started a little bit of digging, and what I found was upsetting.
There is a duplication bug affecting version 1.4.2 that has not been patched.
When I found this out, I only had 3 options as to the future of my shop:
-Close it down for good.
-Clone items myself
-Brand my shop as being 100 percent legitimate, and hope that people will continue to support it out of a desire to obtain their items legitimately.
Cloning and Duping have ALWAYS been against my morals in games, so that was out of the question. I contemplated just giving up, but in the end this is what I settled with. once again, I'm not trying to call anyone out, just trying to let you guys know of the issue going around in hopes that people will pay that little bit extra to support a legitimate Animal Crossing business. I don't ever want to overcharge anyone, My prices are simply based on how hard the items I collect are to obtain. PLEASE consider supporting mine and other small shops on the board over the ones with thousands of replies. if you open a thread and say "man, these prices are too good to be true!" they probably are.

Hey guys! recently while playing I realized that I've amassed quite a collection of items that are considered desirable among the community. I love trading and I'm in need of some specific items myself, so I decided to open my own shop! I hope you can find something you've been looking for!
Please read the entirety of the top post! it explains lots of relevant information on how my shop operates.
‼ Important information ‼
-Trades will take place on my island! I will DM you a dodo code.
-I do not time travel, so seasonal items will only be restocked while they are in season. If you want something, get it before I run out!
-Please be patient! I try to check this thread as much as I can, but oftentimes I'm playing other games with friends and might miss a message for 15 minutes or so.
Payment
PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE IN TBT OR IN-GAME ITEMS!
All items have a "base price" of TBT, but I accept many other forms of payment as well! these will be listed down below.
1 pearl = 3 TBT
3 fish bait = 1 TBT
1 gold nugget = 3 TBT
10 wood (regular only) = 1 TBT
1 rusted part = 3 TBT
The bold currencies are what I'm currently looking for the most! I may decline other trades if I get an excess of the items you offer.
