Unpopular Opinions: Entertainment

Generic thread, I know.

I'm bored as heck, waiting for something to do and I think it would be fun to start a little thread about opinions very few people share about the stuff they enjoy, (Music, Vidya, TV, Internet media, Films, etc.)

Seeing as most threads about this sort of thing are either in general, dead, flame wars and/or political rambling I'd just love to see your opinions on stuff positive or negative and maybe share a reason or two if you feel like it.

Just as a few heads up

• Keep it civil
• No flame wars
• Don't be edgy just because
• Try and have fun
• Too much salt is bad for you

I'll share a few:

-I hate that Adventure Time is a soap opera now instead of the feel-good show it once was
-Super Mario Sunshine and the Gamecube Star Fox games are criminally underrated
-Linkin Park is my guilty pleasure
-Federation Force deserves a chance before people rage over it
-I don't hate Star Wars, but I can't bear myself to watch any of them all the way to the end, they bore me.

I love Super Mario Sunshine! One of the few Mario games I enjoyed as I actually generally dislike most of the games in the Mario Franchise (unpopular opinion #1?). Super Mario 64 was another one I liked but that was definitely not underrated.

As for other unpopular opinions... I suppose I have a few that spring to mind:

-I don't like the movie Pulp Fiction. It took me ages to get around to watching it and the only reason I did was because tonnes of people were telling me how incredible it was. When I finished it I just felt meh about the whole thing.
-As a person who, thanks to my parents, grew up listening to the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell (and whose music tastes generally rest in that era) Eminem is my guilty pleasure. It's not even an unpopular opinion as such, since Eminem is quite popular, it's just that in context it's quite strange for me to be listening to that kind of music.
-I hate the Uncharted games. Sadly not an exaggeration. I played all 3 of them desperate to understand what it was that was making them so popular among the online community and my friends but I never got it. I found the characters annoying and clich? and the game play and story really boring. I won't go on any further because I'm not trying to be deliberately obtuse, just being honest.
-I don't like the Funko Pop! vinyl figures. They all seem characterless and cheap to me.

I actually could think of more but I'm going to stop before it gets out of hand.

-Amiibos should have never been made
-Superman would beat batman despite what the movie says (I love batman, but he just doesn't have the intent to go for the kill)
-I think horror movies are more comedic/funny than scary (An entire wall of picture frames fall to the ground and nobody wakes up to see what happened? ~Conjuring)

- Amiibo's are ****ing stupid and I hate them (even though I own one, oops),
- I hate the consol wars.
- The Wii U gamepad is a good concept, but it could have been done better, and it could have been used better.
- I can't stand most of the **** on the top 100 spotify list or whatever, it's only about girls or money

I think Star Wars is boring.

I didn't really like Alpha Sapphire. I still enjoyed playing it, but it wasn't as fun as X was and I couldn't really connect to my pokemon like I could before.

Gotham isn't good... (I'd rather play the Arkham games over again than watch 1 episode of that show). I couldn't even make it through the first episode cause the fighting scenes were horribly attempted and the rest of it just felt too corny. I'm really not a fan of any of the many detective shows on TV either.

Despite it's success, Two Broke Girls is one of the stupidest shows I've ever seen. It looks like it was written by 14 year old boys in the showers after gym class.

- the only movies I like are super violent horror movies
- the only music that doesn't make me want to stick pencils in my ears is classical
- I really don't like any of the 3D Zelda games, I think they compromised gameplay for graphics

• The 80s is my least favorite decade of music (60s and beyond, as I do not know as much about decades before there) by far.
• The 90s is probably second, just because it's so forgettable to me (I grew up in the 90s, can hardly name anything).
• Not really a fan of Led Zeppelin beyond - get this - Stairway to Heaven. I know that song is extremely popular, but I can do without everything else I've heard.
• One more music opinion: Which is probably pretty obvious! I love brass and woodwind instruments. This might be a strange mention to some, but as a longtime wind instrumentalist and enthusiast I see them overshadowed a lot... Even though in actual classical music we aren't so much, if you pay attention. (Classical is NOT all about strings!)
• I could not even possibly care less about Star Wars and wish it wasn't everywhere (so much more in my face than Minions, TBH) (And don't me wrong, I'm happy for the little bit of diversity they've added into the cast, I just don't like Star Wars altogether)
• I still think that Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are the weakest entries in the mainline Pokemon series.
• On the same subject, I was really impressed with Generation V.
• Super Mario Galaxy games were great fun, but the linear world aspects knocks them down a huge peg as opposed to previous 3D Mario platformers, and that really makes me cringe when I see SMG1&2 put on a pedestal of perfection.
• Nintendo's idea of 'remakes' in regards to the Legend of Zelda series is severely lacking for the price point.
• The obsession with "old school" pixelated game artstyles and 2D gameplay escapes me completely.
• Zombies/werewolves/other supernatural creatures of the like are extremely overdone. If I see one more "What would you do in a zombie apocalypse?" topic, I swear...

- i dont get why people are so addicted to tumblr. the society is unapproachable
- kids on any forums or games are really annoying imo (ages 6-12). some of them are more mature than others, but most are just..no
- i hate movies bc its two hours of having to consistently pay attention to one thing - like i need to multi task. it drives me crazy when i have to look away for a second, the scene turns from a romance into a murder

We aren't the only ones

-I love horror films, but I don't sleep for days after watching them.
-I claim to watch a bunch of anime, but most of it I know from friends. I love anime without really watching it.
-I hate cartoon network and Disney channel so much it is unbelievable
-I really really hate phone calls like i would much rather text and FaceTime but I hate phone calls with all my heart
-Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are my guilty pleasures like nobody can know I like them but now you all do <3

The 1st, 2nd, and 4th Harry Potter movies were the best, the rest were boring.
Hollywood needs to stop whitewashing live action animes(this probably isn't unpopular)
The Legend of Korra wasn't bad, fantastic even. Just a complete feel from ATLA
Amy Schuemer, Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Lawrence, and Miley Cyrus aren't funny and are extremely offensive.
John Green isn't that good...
People need to stop defending kpop stars when they do blackface, they know its not ok.
Jack and Jill wasn't that bad of a movie
They need to start casting trans actors as trans characters.
Ruby Rose was boring in OITNB
Dylan and Cole Sprouse need to stop lol

- I don't like watching TV or movies. All they are is just watching a screen for hours... and that's extremely boring IMO.

- Video game music >>>>>>>>> music played on radios

- When it comes to console wars, I'm extremely biased towards Nintendo because I've never touched a Playstation and I have only played a few games on the original Xbox. Liking Nintendo more probably isn't that unpopular, but they do seem to be the least popular of the three, so...

- I like the concept of the Wii U Gamepad. I wish the Wii U had more games I'd be interested in, though. There's only four right now, maybe five.

- The Legend of Zelda is meh IMO.

...I can't think of any others.
