Underwater cliffs? Anyone else noticed?

When your'e fishing by the ocean, if you look hard you can see varying shades of blue outlining what is clearly a cliff underwater. It's subtle but it's there.

I don't know if it's my TV, but if you can't see it try snapping a picture and pop into a photo editing software.

Now, why would they have added this to the game if it will never serve any function? It's too subtle to add to any visuals and if it's never to be used, then it's just a waste of resources.

Are you taking about the underwater rocks? They are just a visual aspect. It gives more depth to the ocean.
You can actually see them clearly on this episode of Boundary Break. Here's a timestamp to that part.

I admit I'm also curious about the "tide pools" on the rocks. Could be some fun spawns in there too.
