In light of Boom Blocks for the Wii, I started a game of my own. Look at the latest posts for the newest version. (<3 my physics) Please note: You MUST extract before playing.

Controls:

In Free Play:
Left MB: Place block
Right MB: Delete block
Mouse wheel: Change block type
Space+Left MB: Grab block
Left/Right: Rotate block
Ctrl + Delete: Delete all
Backspace: Return to menu

In Arcade:
Space+Left MB: Grab block

You forgot to mention you can use the directional arrows to rotate in free mode.

I'd recommend making the Back panel much smaller in Free Mode, or putting it below the brown area out of the play area.

Also make some smexier blocks.

Ooh, and find a way to make the explosive blocks make other explosive blocks explode.

Smexier as in..?

You no like my anti-aliasing? : ( : p

No, but I plan on adding basically everything you said, and more. Just wanted to see how the physics was working and how entertaining the game was in general as of now.

I meant different shapes. And types.

I played dominoes, and tried to play Jenga.

L-shaped *CEN-5.01-SORD*s. Ramp-like blocks. Circles that roll. Make the free play area larger.

Two more ideas for free mode before I get off:

1. Allow people to "lock" blocks in place, or mid-air.

2. Allow blocks to be "locked" until they are disturbed by being touched by something.

Awesome, Fabio! Pretty fun to play around with. If you keep this updated, it would be awesome if you could make it for the PSP. (meaning a homebrew game) Maybe I can try to make something similar for it, if that is cool with you. Knowing me I would just give up though. Nice Job. :D

This is strangely addicting. D:

Random Suggestion: Some little sound effect or something wouldn't hurt. I don't know how much you can really do as far as sound goes, though.

I have a guy (Obelisk) that does all my sound and music. If I decide to finish it, I go to him, but only after it's done. I don't want him making some great piece and then have me not finish the work.

But yeah, good ideas everyone (mainly Mino, you slimy *CEN-5.0-SORD*). I like the idea of having static blocks, and that is actually an easy thing to implement. There will be a new version tomorrow with lots of improvements.

New version here. Note that upon starting Free Play, your cursor is in the air, so just move it down to see the ground. This was a silly thing I forgot to do before uploading. This update basically vastly improves the Free Play mode to keep you guys busy until I finish the arcade mode, and add some more features to the game.

Version .2 updates include:
  • Free Play mode size doubled
  • New objects in Free Play (circles, static block, long static block, explosive touch block, no grab block)
  • Back button in Free Play mode removed (now you can just press back)
  • Font outlines added
  • Delete all function in Free Play (ctrl + delete)
  • Explosion effect added

LOTS of fun to be had in this improved Free Play mode. Here's just a few of the things I've been experimenting with:
  • Build a structure of any kind (without using static blocks), and drop explosive touch blocks over it one by one until it collapses. See how many bombs your structure can take. (My high score on this one is 4.)
  • Make a huge ramp and drop circles on it. Try to make them land in a box.
  • Drop a lot (and I mean a lot) of circles around, and start dropping explosive touch blocks on them. For whatever reason this is extremely entertaining.
  • Create a huge box filled with circles and some small structures. Once it's full, delete some of the blocks at the bottom and toss an explosive touch block in the back of the box. CIRCLE AVALANCHE!11!!!111!!! You can do the same thing, except making the box a volcano shape. POMPEII!111
  • Try and balance as many circles/single blocks on top of each other as you can.
  • Hotseat multiplayer games-

    Structure wars-
Player 1 builds a structure on one side of the map. Once he/she is done, player 2 steps up to the opposite side of the map, and gets to throw 2 single blocks to try and destroy player 1's structure. If he/she succeeds, they win. If the structure is still standing, player 1 wins.

    Jenga-
Kind of hard to play, and most games will end quickly, but build a Jenga tower (going 2 single blocks, and on top of that a long one, repeat) and play Jenga.

Try and think up of your own games/activities here and post them. (Screenshots are always nice too.) Personally, for me, creating volcanoes and playing structure wars=new love.

Awesome update. You added some fantastic things. (That explosion box is da bomb)

I have 1 suggestion though. It gets a little annoying using the cursor to move around the screen in Free Play mode. Is there a way you can make a "full screen" button so you don't have to move around and the playable screen is your computer screen? Also, where is the Back button located in Free Play mode? :ermm:
