Is it possible?

If you have a 3DS with pre-installed ACNL, can you buy another digital copy? Since my DS is european but I'm in japan, I don't really want to buy a japanese 3DS for the second copy.

I don't believe any digital game can be installed more than once to the same DS. Buying a EU cartridge and having it shipped to you would cost a lot less than buying a Japanese 3DS + Japanese copy of the game though. (Unless you are wanting a Japanese copy, which you cannot download to a EU 3DS anyway, I believe).

Nope, if you open the e-shop and find AC:NL it'll say you already own it instead of allowing you to download it again. Also, I don't think both copies would work with the SD card and switching them out would likely corrupt one towns data.
Importing a physical copy is the best way to go.~ and not too much different anyway.

I tried to download it once again from the e-shop with a second SD-card, which was working very well. But then when I saved the new save file on the second SD-card, the save file on the other SD-card got corrupted. So it doesn't work having two towns of the download version

My friend MrSquigglet1 downloaded a second copy on a different SD card, and whenever he loads the old one, there is an error message. Nintendo is apparently going to try and troubleshoot it, but it's definitely not worth the risk for you! :)

No. You can only have 1 digital copy per DS system. If you want more than one copy, you can have as many cartridge versions as you like on one DS, but only 1 downloaded copy.
