Pretty much, And I've heard a similiar Headset while playing Crysis and the surround sound was amazing.

Mainly for the purpose of being able to hear footsteps coming around a corner on Modern Warfare 2 and for gaming at night.

Well, I'm usually of the opinion that the most popular item is not necessarily the best of its type. My TV is an old 20-inch Toshiba with two tiny built-in speakers, and I have no problem whatsoever ascertaining the direction from which footstep sounds are coming. Your ears are quite easy to trick, combine that with the visual input of what's in front of your character, and I believe that the advantage of these headphones for hearing footsteps is severely overstated. But if you need to be quiet, that changes things.
