Turnips rotting

Ik they rot after a week, but if I needed more room and dropped them on the ground in my island, would they rot faster? I’m buying tons of turnips to make lots of bells but I don’t wanna buy too much if they’ll rot quick on the ground..

Also my house is already full of them so that’s why I’m asking if it’s ok to drop them on the grass of your town lol

I didn't have any problems with them on the ground, but I also sold on Tuesday, IIRC, so I didn't nearly get through a full week.

Yes, it's okay to drop them on the ground. They'll rot at 5am on Sunday regardless of where they are.

A popular option is to use fencing to build a "turnip garden" somewhere outside (just drop them, don't plant them). That way visitors can't take them but you still have access by just removing a piece of fencing.
