I have owned the Sega Genesis model 2 for most of my life and I treat it like another part of my family. However, it has seen better days and doesn't work as well as it used to. As a matter of fact, it's rare that I can get certain games to work, like Sonic 3 & Knuckles and 6-Pak.
I have recently decided to get a new Sega Genesis somehow...I do have a few emulators(a la hacked PSP) but it's just not the same as playing it on the system it's meant for. I am caught between three kinds of Sega Genesis models that I'd like to get...
1. Sega Genesis Model 2
Getting it from Amazon, possibly ebay, and is only about 15 bucks. Hopefully plays much better than my old Genesis, not to mention that it can use the Sega CD and 32X which I might get into later.
2. Sega Genesis Model 3
A very nice alternative to the other models for about 25-30 bucks, it's about the size of a cd player and hopefully plays games better. It won't work with the Sega CD or 32X, however.
3. Sega Firecore
A very recent model which should obviously work even better than model 2 and 3. It also comes with about 20 great built-in games, as well as being able to use cartridges. Again, not compatible with the Sega CD or 32X. It's also around 40 bucks which is more expensive than the other two, but the amount of games with it totally makes up for it. I'm worried if it won't have that "vintage" feel of the model 2 and 3.
What do you guys think?
