Troubleshooting rock spawn

So I was stupid yesterday and accidentally ate something, forgot I needed to deal with it before hitting a rock, and broke a rock that I didn't want to move. So then I spent all day yesterday littering my island with sticks and wood and whatnot so that the only space open would be the one I wanted the rock to spawn back in. I jumped back and forth between days trying to get it to spawn. I did have the first two attempts find places I'd missed, but I've fixed them and there is literally not a single slot on the whole island open except the one I want my rock in, and yet it won't spawn. All I'm getting in that slot is weeds (roughly every third attempt I get a money tree). I've followed every guide I can find, it's not too close to infrastructure, it's not behind a building, it's not behind something tall, it's not near a cliff, I have combed every inch of the island and I don't think I'm missing somewhere it spawned instead. I'm just flummoxed.

I have done exactly what you did, Twice! I posted on here after the first goof and someone said that it has to do with how many weeds you have on your island. They recommended that I plant 150 weeds around the island. Believe it or not the next day, my rock was where I wanted it. After that goof, I did it again, forgot that I had eaten something and accidentally broke a rock. I planted 150 weeds and covered the rest of the island and the very next day my rock was back in the correct place.

I remember reading somewhere that you need two slots open. One for the rock and one for the money tree. Not sure if this is accurate.

What did to help place my rocks in a certain spot was by covering every part of the floor that was free with a random custom design.
That's how I managed to get them to be in a particular spot but I was a bit hard trying to get it all sorted.

I had the same thing happen to me. My little cousin came over and destroyed one of my rocks (she’s little). I tried for it to spawn on the same exact spot and it just wasn’t happening. I kept getting the money tree hole. I had to leave a couple of areas open, about 4-5 squares around the island and keep checking every day to see where the rock and hole would spawn. Eventually, the money rock hole spawned in one of the other holes, and I just left it there without digging it, and worked on getting the rock where I wanted it. I kept breaking it each time it spawned in a different square until it spawned on the one I wanted.

You are a rockstar! (Pun not intended, but it made me laugh when I noticed it) Planting weeds worked like a charm! Hilariously I had exactly 126 weeds in my storage and exactly 24 weeds in my intentionally wild and weedy cliftop. What are the odds? Now my rock is back where it's supposed to be. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
