Trick to giving gifts??

Another thread mentioned being able to give a villager a gift trick while in their home. Can someone tell me how please?

Sorry for late reply. Thanks for your interest. Apparently if you go visit a villager in their home there is some way to give them a gift while in their house. I never heard of it and the poster didn't choose to reply. I just like learning of new tricks or ways to get things done. This game is full of surprises.

the only way i did that is either delivering something to them or giving them a piece of furniture they asked for while they are at home.
